Hello Donna & List: I recently acquired a copy of my G-G-Grandfather's [Thomas Francis Kelly's] Death Record from the L. D. S. Family History Center as follows: Deaths (V. E-G) 1891; Family History Library US/CAN Film # 1853538. Under Schedule C. -- Deaths; County of Peterborough; Division of Belmont; I discovered the following: Name and Surname of Deceased... Thomas Francis Kelly When Died... 28, April, 1891 Sex -- Male or Female... Male Age... 92 Rank or Profession... Farmer [A Stamped # 013178 appears on this line] Where Born... Ireland Certified Cause of Death and Duration of Illness... Inflammation of Prostrate Glands & old age 3 days. Name of Physician, if any... W. H. Jeffs M. D. Signature Description and Residence of Informant... John W. Grace When Registered... 30, June, 1891 Religious Denomination of Deceased... E. Signature of Registrar... Porter Preston My question(s) are as follows: 1. Are there any other Canadian Death Records besides this one? If so, what are they and where might I find them? 2. Also, what does the stamped number...013178 mean and what does it refer to? 3. Is this all of the information provided for a death in 1891 in Canada. If not, what other death information might there be? It should be noted that Thomas Francis Kelly died in Peterborough County; Belmont Township, according to this death record. However, he is buried in Burritts Rapids Christ Church Anglican Cemetery which is located in Oxford-On-Rideau Township, Grenville County, Ontario. His gravemarker's transcription reads as follows: "Thomas Kelly...Died...28 April, 1891 at age 90 years. I have also located him on the Ontario Census of 1871 in Burritts Rapids. As you can see there is a discrepancy of two (2) years between the gravemarker (90 years of age) and the death record (92 years of age). Furthermore, Grenville County is not in close proximity to Peterborough County and I am wondering what the connection may be between these two places in relationship to my G-G-Grandfather. My G-Grandfather's [James Kelly's] death certificate from Kansas lists Thomas Francis Kelly as his father. James Kelly was born on 09, September, 1838 in Burritt's Rapids and I have placed him on the 1861 census [Approximate age 23] as residing with his father Thomas KELLY in Burritts Rapids. My G-Grandfather [James Kelly] eventually moved to Blenheim, Harwich Township, Kent County, Ontario, where my Grandfather [Nathan Tompkins Kelly] was born on 24, August, 1867. My G-Grandfather, James Kelly, and Grandfather, Luther Tompkins Kelly {at age 14} and their family immigrated to the United States where they became naturalized citizens in 1879. I am totally unaware of who Thomas Francis KELLY's parents or siblings were and I am attempting to gather enough information to discover where he came from in Ireland. Can anyone give me some advice on where to discover such information? Would any of this information be contained in some type of death record on Thomas Francis KELLY? Thanks.
