Hello Listers: Does anyone have any KELLY Surnames that they are researching in Ontario...Specifically Kent; Grenville; Peterborough; & neighboring counties from about 1835 to 1900? My G-G-Grandfather, Thomas Francis KELLY died on 28, April, 1891 at the age of 90 in Belmont Township. He is buried in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery in Burritts Rapids, Grenville County, Ontario next to his wife Hannah BROWN KELLY. Thomas KELLY's place of birth on the Ontario Census of 1871 was listed as IRELAND. His religion was listed as Church of England - Anglican and his occupation was listed as a labourer. Thomas & Hannah KELLY had about 15 children between 1838 and 1866 according to the 1861; 1871; & 1881 Leebee Oxford-On-Rideau Township, Grenville County Census as follows: 1. James KELLY: [Their eldest son {My Great Grandfather} born in Burritts Rapids on 09, September, 1838] 2.Susana KELLY [Born about 1841 in Upper Canada] 3.Mary KELLY [Born about 1842 in U. C.] 4.Sarah KELLY [Born about 1843 in U. C.] 5.Elizabeth KELLY [Born about 1845 in U. C.] 6.Naomi KELLY [Born about 1847 in U. C.] 7.Kezeth KELLY [Born about 1848 in U. C.] 8.Maria KELLY [Born about 1851 in U. C.] Married John ROSE on 22, March, 1875 9.Sophia KELLY [Born about 1851 in U. C.] 10.Jamima KELLY [Born about 1853 or 1855 in U. C.] 11.Jerusha KELLY [Born about 1855 or 1856 in Burritts Rapids] Married James Albert ROSE on 04, February, 1874 12.Martha KELLY [Born about 1857 in Wolford Township, U. C.] Married Edmund FULCHER on 09, January 1873 13.William KELLY [Born about 1859 in U. C.] 14.Thomas KELLY [Born about 1859 or 1861 in U. C.] 15.Albert KELLY [Born about 1863 or 1866 in Ontario] I do not know where the above children are buried. They are not buried in the same cemetery as Thomas and Hannah KELLY. I only know of the listed marriages. James KELLY, the eldest & my G-G-Grandfather moved to KENT County for some unknown reason. He married Rebecca TOMPKINS {Daughter of Nathan TOMPKINS (A veteran of the War of 1812) who was the son of Israel TOMPKINS (A well-known United Empire Loyalist from Stillwater New York who settled in Augusta and Wolford Township in Grenville County Ontario). James KELLY and Rebecca TOMPKINS were the parents of my Grandfather, Nathan Tompkins KELLY, born about 24, August, 1867 in Blenheim, Kent County, Ontario. Nathan Tompkins KELLY (At about age 14) with his parents & family immigrated to the U.S. in 1879 and settled in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio, where my father, Luther James KELLY (First generation American) was born in 1907. My research quandary is: 1. Where have all of the other KELLY's gone? 2. Why did Thomas Francis KELLY die in Belmont Township [Peterborough County} which is a great distance from Burritts Rapids, Grenville County, Ontario and end up buried in Grenville County? 3. Why did James Kelly leave Grenville Canada and migrate to Kent County, Ontario? 4.Why would James KELLY & his family leave Canada to immigrate to the U. S. in 1879? 5.How can I locate these other 14 children of Thomas & Hannah KELLY's descendants and what happened to these 14 children? HELLO; Do I have any relatives OUT THERE?
