Donna: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! :o) Not only am I on the edge of my chair, but I just fell out of it! <grin> You did it! You found Martha KELLY FULCHER who was the daughter of Thomas Francis KELLY. That means he was residing with her in Belmont Township, Peterborough, County, Ontario, whenever he died. Martha FULCHER was born about 1857 [This would make her 34 in 1891] in Wolford Township, Grenville County, Upper Canada. She was the twelfth born child of Thomas and Hannah KELLY. Martha KELLY FULCHER married Edmund FULCHER on 09, January, 1783. I had found Martha on the 1861 and 1871 Oxford-on-Rideaux Township Census in Grenville County with Thomas & Hannah BROWN KELLY. Also I had discovered her marriage record to Edmund FULCHER. It is possible that Thomas Francis KELLY was married before. On the original Kansas Death Certificate of my Great-Grandfather, James KELLY [Thomas KELLY's eldest born son who was born in Burritts Rapids, Grenville County, 09, September, 1838] it lists his mothers name as Mary BROWN. Since there were other errors on the Death Certificate, I assumed that Mary may have been Hannah BROWN KELLY's middle name or just an error. However, it could also be possible that Thomas KELLY was married before to a Mary BROWN...possibly a sister or cousin to Hannah BROWN KELLY. You had mentioned if Thomas was Martha's father, that he was 58 when she was born and that either he was quite a bit older than his wife or he had more than one wife. On the 1861 Oxford-on-Rideau Census Hannah BROWN KELLY was listed as 46 and Martha KELLY was listed as 4. I guess Hannah could have had Martha at 42 years of age. Also, according to "Who's Where, A Guide To The Cemeteries of Rideau Township," edited by Jim Kennedy and produced by the Rideau Heritage Board of Publication, Township of Rideau, in 1980, Thomas KELLY is listed as being buried in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Burritt's Rapids with his wife, Hannah BROWN KELLY. The transcriptions on the gravemarker [I have a picture of the gravemarker] reads..."Thomas KELLY...Died...28, April, 1891 at age 90 years, and Hannah KELLY...Died 15, March, (THE YEAR IS BLANK), at age 78 years!" Why the year of death for Hannah is not on the gravemarker {It is smooth as if it was never chiseled} is puzzling to me. Ah! Another Mystery! Thomas & Hannah KELLY's ages vary from the 1861; 1871; & 1881 Census and do not match up with the gravemarker and Death Record of Thomas Francis KELLY. I have been told that this is not unusual and that many mistakes were made by Census Enumerators; Funeral Homes; and, yes, even Informants regarding Death Records. You also found ... "GREW, Wesley, age 27, born in Ontario, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist, Blacksmith." I agree with you that the Wesley Grew listed on the 1891 Census for Belmont Township is probably John Wesley GREW (Possibly spelled GRUE) and is the same John W. GREW who was the Informant on the Death Record. "Emma GREW, age 17, wife, born in Ontario, father born in England, mother born in Ontario, Methodist"...Was probably the eldest daughter of Martha KELLY FULCHER and their son... "GREW, Earnest, age 1, son, born Ontario, Father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist." was the grandson of Martha KELLY and Edmund FULCHER [Who you advised may have died the year before, because Martha was a widow and had a newborn baby]. You advised on April 16, 1891 [12 days before Thomas Francis KELLY died] the Census Taker wrote the following: "FULCHER, Martha, age 34, widow, born in Ontario, father born in Ireland, mother born in Ontario, Methodist. FULCHER, Frederick, age 14, son, born in Ontario, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist. FULCHER, Francis, age 12, son. born in Ontario, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist. FULCHER, Lillie, age 9, daughter, born in Ontario, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist. FULCHER, Herbert, age 5, son, born in Ontario, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist. FULCHER, Henery J., ...Looks like he is two moths old... , son, father and mother born in Ontario, Methodist. KELLEY, Thomas, age 92, widow, father, born in Ireland, father and mother born in Ireland, Church of England. Thomas, Martha, Frederick, Francis, and Lillie could all read and write." Where can I gain access to the Belmont Township Census of 1891 in Peterborough County? You have indeed given me many clues and expanded my Family Tree. Once again, Thank You! I received many responses from various lists [Too Many to Respond to] that were very helpful. I will forward this E-mail to those lists hoping that this will also elicit responses from the FULCHER [Or FULSHER]; GREW [Or GRUE]; KELLY ; and BROWN descendants. To everyone else who responded to my Death Record on Thomas Francis KELLY...Thank You!
