Good morning, There appears to be a problem here. I sent a message a few minutes ago asking list members if anyone had information on an Olive KELLY. I just received a message stating WARNING, No such user etc and it indicated that there was a file attached. Can someone kindly tell me what I did wrong if anything? Thank you, Marge Perry.
Good morning, Does anyone have any information on the family of Olive KELLY, b.September 3 1813 in Dartmouth, MA. She married Henry GRAVES, lived in Dennis Port, MA and died April 17 1873. Both Henry and Olive appear in the Dennis vital records, but unable to find the names of either of the parents. Thank you, Marge Perry On a very delightfully cool morning on Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Hi Loren of Texas and Kellys everywhere, In response to your question, "Where is Mara Twp, Simcoe Co.?," it is located north of Toronto, on the northeast side of Lake Simcoe whereas your ancestors lived in Grenville Co. bordering Quebec, @ Ottawa . . . but then, what do I know about Canadian geography -- I'm a Michigander, eh! Forty-year old Martin Kelly came across from Dublin, Ireland, in 1842, and landed in Quebec with his two-year old son and his pregnant wife, Catherine Doolan Kelly, age 23. Hence, they waited until daughter Margaret was born in 1843 before traversing the wilds to Simcoe Co. Catherine Doolan Kelly's 19-year old brother, Martin Doolan, made the crossing with them and settled on the lot next to theirs in Mara Twp. The Thomas you write about had settled in Canada in 1835, before Martin Kelly, who was first listed in the Canadian Census of 1851 as a farmer in Mara Twp. By 1861, the Census shows Martin Kelly had eleven children. The two could have been brothers, but for that connection, we would have to find parish birth records in Dublin. Since my original message to the Kelley-L@rootsweb was lost before posting on the KELLY-L, here goes: > Hello Kell(e)ys: > My line descends from Martin Kelly b. 1802 Dublin, IRE and Catherine > Doolan b. 1819 County Roscommon IRE. Howdy! Eh! Kelly & Kelley Listers In the ArchivaNet Index to the 1871 Census of Ontario I have discovered a "gathering" "A. K. A. Clan" of Kelly's in Kent County; Bothwell, District; Camden, Subdistrict. They are all Methodists {Of one form or another} and I assume they are related. My Great Grandfather, James Kelly (33) is found on this same census in Kent County; Kent, District; Harwich, Subdistrict. James and his family were originally from Oxford Township-On-The-Rideau in Grenville County Ontario. He is of Irish origin and Methodist also. I believe he may be related to these Kelly's. Camden is close to Harwich. Following are a list of these Kellys From Camden {Bothwell}: William Kelly (38); born Ontario; Calvinistic Methodist; Irish; Farmer. David Kelly (67); born United States; Methodist; Irish; Carpenter. Edward Kelly (37); born Ontario; Wesleyan Methodist;; Irish; Farmer George Kelly (32); born Ontario; Episcopal Methodist/Methodist Episcopal; Irish; Waggon Maker. Samuel Kelly (34); born Ontario; Episcopal Methodist/Methodist Episcopal; Irish; Farmer. Robert Kelly (28); born Ontario; Episcopal Methodist/Methodist Episcopal; Irish; Farmer. Sarah Jane Kelly (27); born Ontario; Episcopal Methodist/Methodist Episcopal; Irish; Stray. John Kelly (67); born Ireland; Church of England, Anglican; Irish; Farmer. The other link between the Camden Kellys and James Kelly is that Camden was the site of one of the first major oil booms in Canada and James Kelly eventually became an Oil Rig & Water Well driller as did his son, Nathan Tompkins Kelly {My Grandfather}! If anyone has any information on the above-listed Kellys that might possibly give me a clue as to their possible family connection, please contact me. Thanks! Loren Kelly, An Irish Canadian American, Living in Texas!

Kelly: My line descends from a Thomas Kelly {D.O.B. Unknown-But of Irish Origin}! He married a Hannah Brown {Marriage date unknown} and they sired a son by the name of James Kelly who was born on 09, Sep. 1838 in Burritt's Rapids, which is located in Oxford-Township-On-The Riedeau Canal, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada. As a result of my research, I discovered a Thomas Kelly on the 1842 Census of Grenville County residing in Oxford Township on the second concession; lot two; and he had five people in his family group. The 1842 Census also indicated that Thomas Kelly had resided there for seven years {Since about 1835}. I also checked Assessments for Grenville County {Oxford Township} and discovered a Thomas Kelley residing on Concession four; Lot six; consisting of 100 acres in 1840. Also in the Census Records for the Four Townships on the Rideau River, I discovered a Thomas Kelly residing in Oxford Township in 1840. This is probably my G-G-Grandfather. There was a Ransom Kelly residing in Montague Township in 1825 and I discovered a baptism from Montague Township regarding a Sarah Kelly who was born on 23, March, 1845 to a Martin & Maria Kelly. I have also seen Military Records on a Martin Kelly and the name has popped up a number of times during my research in Grenville County. >From Ontario marriage records I have also been able to determine that James Kelly s/o Thomas and Hannah Kelly also had three sisters as follows: Martha Kelly; Jerusha Kelly; and Maria Kelly. Now from the marriage records it appears that my Kellys' moved around between Merrickville; Burritt's Rapids; & Kemptville in 1873; 1874; & 1875. These marriage records indicated that they were all Methodists. I do know that on James Kelly's {My Great Grandfather's} death certificate there is a mention of Montreal. Where is Mara Township? Could the above Kelly's be related to your Martin Kelly? Thanks, Loren Kelly, An Irish Canadian American, Living In Texas! --part1_f79964a0.24e0fcd5_boundary--

Hello: I have been with the Kelley newsletter some time, and have just joined this Kelly newsletter. Perhaps a new group of people will be able to help in some way. I am seeking any information on Archibald Kelly who married Elsie Clawson in 1793 at the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle, PA. I have reason to believe that he may have settled in Indiana County, PA. I am also seeking any information on James Kelly and Patrick Kelly who appear on the 1807 Tax Lists in Indiana County, PA for Blacklick Township. Thanks. Kathy Kelly

There are two (2) Mailing Lists that discuss the KELLEY (also KELLY, O'KELLY, KELLIE, etc.) Family. I would sugggest that if you are interested in any of these spellings or variations of them that you subscribe to both of them - since they don't carry much traffic you won't be overwhelmed by E-Mails by belonging to both. Your membership may also help bring some new information to someone, or better yet, offer you some new information to assist you in your research. Am trying to help my mother-in-law find her sister. My mother-in-laws name is Betty Griffiths Her sister Peggy, would have known her as Betty Ruth Sutton or Betty Ruth Talley (named aquired when adopted. Peggy was also adopted, her mother was Ruth Sutton, she was born (it is believed) in Richmond, VA. She was adopted in the Kelly family by a man who was in the military. Peggy would now be approximately in her late 50's early 60's. My mother-in-law would love to meet her sister. Any and all help would be most appreciated. Greetings, I am new to the list and wanted to post my information: My 3rd great grandfather was Martin Kelly (or Kelley). All I know is this. He was born around 1818 probably somewhere in County Galway. He settled in Maine around 1845. He was married Mary Nee in 1848 in Portland, ME and had the following children: Michael, Bryan, Martin, Margaret, Festus, Dennis, Anna, Mary Ann, Thomas, and Stephen. In 1867 the family moved to Lewiston, ME. Martin died in 1888. No records indicate his place of birth or origin. In 1864 he there was a Patrick Kelly living at the same address in Portland. I have not been able to find a naturalization record, or will for him. The death record does not indicate any place of birth. There is no obituary and I haven't yet been able to find a passenger list. Kathy Amoroso Portland, ME
