Howdy! Eh! Pat McAbe: Thank You so much for sending the pictures to me in the post. I have not received them yet, but I will let you know whenever I do. It just so happens that I discovered Thomas Kelly living in Oxford-On-Rideau Township on the Leebee/Censuses & Assessments/Grenville County/Ontario/Canada/1840/1841/1842/1851/1861/1871/&1881, which is locaated @ <www.ott.igs.net/~leebee> as follows: Assessments: Year. However. on the 1842 Census the Lot was 2; the Concession was 2; the Gr was 5; & the Yrs were 7. On the 1861 Census the Lot was 7; the Concession was 3; & the Acres were 100. On the 1871 Census the Lot was 6; the Concession was 2; & the Acres were 2. I assume that this meant that Thomas moved around & that he ended up with only 2 acres instead of the original 100. Therefore, he must have sold some of his land as he grew older. I am unsure of what Gr stands for. I assume Yrs means how many years he lived on and/or owned the land. I appreciate your offer to visit where Thomas lived and to let me know if there are any structures or old buildings on these locations. I am also posting this e-mail to several other lists to see if anyone might recognize if they have an ancestor in common with me! You have truly been very kind and helpful to me in my Kelly Quest! Looking for information about descendants of Malachi Kelly, probably of Co. Galway, whose son John and perhaps other children, arrived in Milford, MA in the 1850's. John was engaged as a bootmaker in Milford, MA. His son, James S. Kelly is my g-grandfather. We are trying to establish that elusive connection back to Ireland, and Malachi is our best bet for doing so. Robert Emmet Kelly, Jr. -- The Walking Shoe Store II 335 Duval Street Key West, FL 33040

This is a long shot but I'll try. Does anyone have any information on the Kelly that lived in DeSoto Co.... Miss. about the 1870's or the 1880's. Looking for a John Madison Kelly he was born in N.C. DEC 1853. I don't know his parents or any of his family. The only family I know able is he married a Dixie Tucker in DeSoto Co.. Miss in 1880. From there he and wife had about 5 or 6 children then moved on to Okla. around 1895. Would like to know his parents name and something about them. Thanks Mary Ann
Hello Listers: On July 13, 1999 I received an e-mail from a Dorothy Howe Suri <e-mail name Dotsuri> regarding a Naomi Kelly; born February 8, 1845 in Burritt's Rapids, Ontario Canada. She indicated to me that she was a fifth generation descendant of Naomi Kelly Howe Morgan. At that time, I was unaware that Thomas & Hannah {Brown} Kelly had fifteen children, one of which was a Neome or Naomi Kelly born in Burritt's Rapids about 1845 or 1847. Subsequent, to Dorothy Suri's e-mail I discovered the following: 1. From "Who's Where, A Guide To The Cemeteries of Rideau Township," edited by Jim Kennedy and produced by the Rideau Heritage Board of Publication, Township of Rideau, in 1980, Thomas KELLY and Hannah KELLY are listed as being buried in Christ Church Anglican Church Cemetery, Burritt's Rapids in B 10. The inscriptions on the small white vertical monument that was repaired and restored by the cemetery board in 1997 reads....."Hannah KELLY; Died 15, March, (Blank) Ae 78 years."......[This (Blank) year is unusual & basically means that the place where her death should have been engraved was quite smooth & appears as though it has never been cut! Has anyone else come across a similar situation?] On the adjacent side of this four-sided gravemarker is another inscription which reads......"Thomas KELLY; Died 28, April, 1891, Ae 90 years." 2. According to the 1871 Census of Ontario, Thomas KELLY's birhplace was listed as Ireland and his age as 61. His religion was listed as Church of England, Anglican and his occupation was listed as a lobourer! This 1871 Census of Ontario shows Thomas KELLY as residing in Leeds & Grenville, North District, (070) & in the Subdistrict of Oxford (E). 3.Thomas KELLY & his wife, Hannah {Brown} KELLY, are listed with their children on the 1861; 1871; & 1881 Leebee Census for Oxford-On-Rideau Township, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada as follows: (1)James KELLY; {My Great-Great Grandfather}...Born 09, September, 1838 in Burritt's Rapids, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada! (2)Susana KELLY; Born about 1841 in Upper Canada! (3)Mary KELLY; Born about 1842 in Upper Canada! (4)Sarah KELLY; Born about 1843 in Upper Canada! (5)Elizabeth KELLY; Born about 1845 in Upper Canada! (6)Neome or Naomi KELLY; Born about 1847 in Upper Canada! (7)Kezeth KELLY; Born about 1848 in Upper Canada! (8)Maria or Mariah KELLY; Born about 1851 or 1852 in Upper Canada! (9)Safia or Sofia KELLY; Born about 1851 in Upper Canada! (10)Jemimi or Jamima KELLY; Born about1853 or 1855 in Upper Canada! (11)Jerusa; Jariusa; or Jerusha KELLY; Born about 1855 or 1856 in Upper Canada! (12)Martha Kelly; Born about 1857 in Upper Canada! (13)William KELLY; Born about 1859 in Upper Canada! (14)Thomas KELLY; Born about 1859 or 1861 in Upper Canada! (15)Albert KELLY; Born about 1863 or 1866 in Ontario, Canada! My problem is that I I have misplaced Dorothy Howe Suri's e-mail address and I need to desperately contact her to advise that I have discovered a Naomi Kelly, who I believe to be the same Naomi Kelly that she is descended from. If anyone could assist me in locateing Dorothy Howe Suri <e-mail name Dotsuri> it would be greatly appreciated! Looking for info about Mary KELLY born abt 1805 in Galway Ireland. Tried at Middlesex Gaol, and transported to Australia on the "Pyramus" 1831. May have been married to John Higgins and have had a son before or soon after transportation. Definitely married James Murdock in 1836. Their son Peter (my ggggrandfather) was hanged at Wagga Wagga for murder in 1877. Any info would be wonderful. Andrea, Australia.

My grandmother's maiden name was Kelly. I do not have any information. I though if I gave what information I do have, someone would recognize it and help me. My mother's name was Mary Ellen Curtis. She was born in Syracuse, New York on April 5, 1931. Her mother's name was Ruth E. Curtis (nee Kelly). Her mother was married to William Curtis. They moved to Tonawanda, New York. Does anyone recognize this family? If so please send me an email. BarbRRob@aol.com. Thanx for any info you can give.

Recently found an Annie Teresa Kelly, b 11NOV1875 in my family pedigree. She is presumably the daughter of John Henry Kelly (born in county Mayo, Ireland) 1847-1917. He married Mary Ann (Agnes?) Costello (Costella?) (born Ireland) on 10/18/1852, died 9/1926 in Philadelphia. Trying to "verify" relationship of Annie to John and Mary. Also would be interested in any other children of John and Mary.
Hi, I also have a Mary KELLY in the family. She was born 1854 in CT. Her parents were John KELLY b. 1825 IRE and Sarah ELLIS b. 1831 Co. Wicklow, IRE. John and Sarah were married in CT in the early 1850s. They moved to Whitewater, Walworth Co., WI in 1854/55, as their second daughter Catherine was born 1855 WI. Other children b. WI: Johanna(Josephine) b. 1856, William b. 1858, Margaret b. 1862, and Sarah b. 1866. Baptismal records show godparents John GRIFFIN, Winnifreda GRIFFIN, and Maria ELLIS. Probate, marriage, and cemetery records show connections to ROACH, NICKERSON, QUINN, O'BRIEN, and BLAKE. Does anyone have information on this KELLY family? Thanks, Patty
>From Mike kelly profned@bigpond.com With regard the spelling of our name, there is no official or correct spelling at all. Recently I have been working on a line from a David OKilley of Yarmouth MA. He is descended from the OKellys of Gallagh Galway and on his descent chart the name is spelled OKelley, OKelly, Kelley, Kelly, Killey. In Elizabethan times the name was spelled sometimes Kellie. In Ireland, many people are changing the ways their names are spelled to the old way and in this case many Kellys are listed in the phone book as OCeallaigh. Mike
Hi, Michele Lewsader was looking for information on Mary Kelley. I thought I might as well join in with my MARY KELLY. I realize this is a 'shot in the dark' as I have so little to go on, but I've belonged to the list for many months and some people have asked for help with as little as I have, so here goes. My Great Grandmother was MARY KELLY. Census and death records only indicate 'Ireland'. I haven't been able to locate a marriage record. ORAL HISTORY of my family suggests she may have come from Antrim, Ireland. She may have been here in the 1830's with her mother. Her mother may have been widowed. MARY KELLY b. abt 1818 in Ireland. Married RICHARD GORMAN b. abt 1818 in Ireland. [Marriage date/place unknown] KNOWN INFO [varified from civil and church records] is birth of first known child, MARY GORMAN, born 1848 in Cambridge,Massachusetts. Many other children followed, including my grandmother, Kate [Catherine Louise Gorman born 1872 in Waltham, Massachusetts.[Married Patrick[aka Parker Walton] Family in Waltham, Massachusetts from the 1860's on. RICHARD GORMAN died in 1888. MARY KELLY GORMAN died September 17, 1912 in Waltham, Massachusetts. As I said, this is all I have, no names of parents, no siblings [KELLY] show up as Godparents for the children. Just hoping someone may have a connection or lead to how to glean more information. Thanks. Lyn Walton MKateriW@aol.com
