I'm hoping I've made a breakthrough in my research on my ancestor Lawrence KELLEY. I found an census today of Shelby County, Alabama 1850 that has a James KILLY and Samuel KILLY family both born in North Carolina. Here is the transcript. Enumerated on Dec. 24, 1850 Shelby Co, AL no TWP listed H.H. 1075 James KILLY..........49......M......farmer.........NC Mary --------...........36......F.........................NC Eliza ----------...........19......F.........................NC Lawrence ----..........16......M........................NC Washington----........10......M........................AL Patrick-----------.........9.......M........................AL Thomas---------......... 8.......M........................AL Lydia------------...........6.......F.........................AL John -----------............4.......M........................AL H.H. 1076 Samuel Killy............37........M....farmer..........NC Kesiah ------..............25........F.......................NC Samuel ------..............14........M.....................NC Jane??------.................8..........F....................AL Mary-------...................6..........F....................AL Albert------..................4...........M...................AL Sarah........................1...........F....................AL Or course in the next census they are now Kellys still in Shelby County, AL. Hoping someone has a connection they can share. I've been working on this family for over 12 years. Thanks, Susan Kelley Fletcher A "good" family, it seems, is one that used to be better.--Cleveland Amory http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/sflet
