The earliest census I can find him on is 1830, where he is living in Rockbridge County Virginia. Adam Kelley married Elizabeth Teel, 29 Aug 1823 in Botetourt Virginia. I can only assume that Botetourt is where Elizabeth's family lived. I can not find them in the 1840 census. By 1850 they are living in Cabell County W.VA, with 6 children: James Kelley b 1832, Samuel Kelley b 1834, Adam Kelley b 1836, Peter Kelley b 1838, Philip and Lucy Kelley b 1842 (twins) I find it unlikely that their first child was born 9 years after marriage. Based on the 1830 census in Rockbridge, there were 3 unidentified children living in the house hold. It is possible they died or, by 1850, had married and started families of their own. Also in the 1850 census for Tazewell County Virginia, Elizabeth Teel Kelley's parents, Philip Teel b 1762 and Lucy Teel b 1765, are living with a Peter Teel (poss. a grandchild or son to Philip and Lucy Teel). There were a number of Teel families in Tazewell County in 1850 who ALL ended up in Missouri or Iowa in 1860. I do know that at some time between 1850-1853, Lucy Teel ended up in Cabell County W.VA, where she died 27 Sep 1853 in the Pea Ridge (Barboursville area). So it is likely that other Teel's traveled to Cabell County as well between that time frame. Adam Kelley, Elizabeth Kelley and 5 of their chilren: James, Adam, Peter, Philip and Lucy Kelley, moved to Lee County Iowa. Samuel Kelley stayed in Cabell County where he married Elizabeth Hensley Oct 1859 and he died on his homestead on Booten Creek in 1922. Samuel never heard from his parents or siblings again. So, I am looking for other family that may be searching these lines. Trying to find out if Adam had siblings..who his parents were...etc Thanks Ruth
