After years of searching I have finally found the father of my grandmother's mother!!!! My grandmother, Edith Amanda Nichols was the child of Aubra Nichols and his wife Amanda Kelley. Amanda's mother, Emily, was in her daughters household at the time of the 1875 New York State Census, but until now I have not been able to find her father. But there they are, in the 1860 census for the town of Montague in Lewis County, NY: Daniel Kelley age 60, farmer Emily, age 52 William, age 19, farmer Amanda, age 16 Hough's History of Lewis County gives a short biography of a Daniel Kelley, an early settler of Lewis County and a prominent person. He was born in Norwich, CT, 27 Nov 1755, son of Daniel and Abigail Kelley. He married Jemima Stow. He came from CT to Lewis County NY in 1798. His youngest son was named Daniel - perhaps Amanda's father. An article in the New England Historic and Genealogical Society's 1916 issue of the Register, lists a Daniel and Philip Kelly of New York among Redeemed Captives, taken by savages 20 Aug 1746. I don't know how or if this relates. Is anyone researching this line? Do they connect with the David O'killia descendants? Any help will be greatly appreaciated.
