What I just read made me think about what I have always heard passed down from my mother and grandmother (after a long absence I recently starting getting my feet wet again in genealogy). I have my family -- John Kelley born late 1700's in Tennessee family came on over on Ship Calf from Ireland. Family stories are they were German, went to Ireland and on to US. My question has anyone studied migration from Germany to Ireland in the 1600's or 1700's, how long they would have stayed in Ireland (thinking a German woman married an Irish Kelley man and onto the US), I just haven't looked into the migration part yet.
