Many Kelly's are R1b Haplogroup and may want to find out which Oxford Genetic Atlas Project (OGAP) they are. By picking those haplotype markers identified below and subtracting 389-1 from 389-2 their OGAP Group can be determined. This is a very important article that strips away the veil that some experts put upon their findings. Some of the more technical terminology in the article can be glossed over on a first read. What is most useful is the map at the end which will help any British Isles R1b's to locate themselves in a fairly general way and to see where they fit into the Oxford Genetic Atlas Project analysis. My own maternal grandfather was R1b1c (FTDNA). According to the conclusions of this article he falls into the sub-clade (is that the right term here?) OGAP3. Unfortunately, though slightly more represented in Southern England, this is an old and geographically diffused type and harder to pin down. You will need to subtract your 389-1 from your 389-2 result to comply with the OGAP calculation of 389-2. We are still dealing with too few markers but at least the door is now open here on previously unclear aspects of the work of Sykes and Oppenheimer on Britain.
