I am hoping someone on this list can help me break thru a brickwall. I am the 3rd generation of family genealogists looking for Mathilda Kelley. This is what I know: Mathilda Kelley lived in Gustavus, Trumbull, OH in and around 1827 when she married Samuel G. PELTON. She was probably born about 1812. She had a sister, Esther who was born in about 1810 who married a Stephen Linsley, Jr. also in Gustavus. I believe these folks later moved to MA but that's all I know. She also had a brother, Walter, who married Eliza Simmons in NY in1828. He was a ship owner/captain and died in New Orleans, LA in 11 Oct 1844. He died of smallpox, I believe, since there was an epidemic of that in LA at that time. The only Kell(e)y I find in the 1820 census is a Cyrel living next door to Samuel's stepmother, Chloe Pelton. I find no other info on these folks and he's not in subsequent census records. Mathilda died in Byron, Fond du Lac WI and is buried with her husband and some of her sons in Byron Cemetery. SHe is my 3rd great grandmother. If you can help or have suggestions on what else I can do, please let me know. I have no idea who her parents were and am only guessing that she was from CT since many of the people who founded the county were from CT. Thanks for anything you can do. Susan K.
