    3. Hello, This is my first posting to the Kelly List, and I hope to do many more. I have been tracking my KELLY and MURPHY family for eight years, and am up against the "proverbial" brick wall. Thomas MURPHY and his new wife left County Mayo, Ireland in 1831 or 1832, and settled in Mayo, Quebec, Canada. This whole town in Canada was settled by Irish, most of them from County Mayo. It is reportedly very much like Ireland. In later years they even built a Shrine and named it, OUR LADY OF KNOCK. Thomas' brother Patrick and his sister Mary emmigrated also, as did other Mayo citizens named LAVELL, BURKE, DUNNIGAN, KELLY, O'NEILL, Mc DONNELL, Mc ANDREW and others. Thomas' parents, James Murphy and Mary BURKE remained in Ireland. I believe Catherine's did also, but I do not know. I have been trying to find the parish or townland where they came from, but I have been unable to find this in the Quebec records. The only reference has been to their coming from the Parish of Kilbourn, which apparently does not exist There are difficulties sometimes with the translation from French to English, and records are kept in French up there. I am hopeful that these people sound familiar to one of you folks, Or perhaps somebody has an idea on how I can locate these missing relatives? Any and all ideas will be welcomed. Thank you, Nancy MURPHY BALDWIN in Minnesota
