Published: Joplin Globe (Jasper county MO) 19 May 1933 Retired Farmer Dies After Long Illness Lorenzo Kelley, 79, Native of Ireland Would Have Been 80 Years Old Sunday Lorenzo Kelley 79 years old, retired farmer and native of Ireland died at 9:15 o'clock last night in St. John's hospital, where he was admitted March 16th as a medical patient. Death was caused by a complication of ailments. He had been in ill health 2 years. Mr Kelley was born in Ireland May 21, 1853, he would have been 80 years old Sunday. He came to the United States when he was 5 years old and settled in NY state. In 1905, he moved MO and settled on a farm, 8 miles south west of Neosho, known as the old Scott place. He resided there until 1924. In 1925, he purchased a farm at County Line and Range Line in the Gateway Drive vicinity and had resided there since. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph W. DAVIS had been staying at his home during his illness. Mr. Kelley was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and of the Woodmen of the World lodge. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Edna TOMILINSON and a nephew, William KELLEY, both of Detroit, MI. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but the body will be returned to Albany, NY for burial in the family plot. The body is at the Thompson funeral home at Neosho.
