I am looking for information on these people I have a Thomas O'Kelly died at his home five miles west of Ashkum Ill. Wednesday night at 10pm. July 18, 1899 age 71 years. He was born in Ireland and came to this country at the age of 21. settling first in Canad, where he lived for about 7 years, when he moved to LaSalle Co. Ill. In 1869 he settled in Iroquois County, on the farm on which he has since resided. In 1852 he was married to ann Hishon, and to them seven children were born, six of whom still live, and with the wife mourn a kind father and husband. This letter was wrote by his son which says. Born in county Limerick, Ireland. Shanagolden the O'Kellys were quite prominent people throughout Ireland. The Hishons were also prominet holding responsible positions such as "Squire Hishons" and Hord Mayor of Limerick. The government sent him to Canada (no one knows why) his brothers were sent to Australia (there were some O"Kellys who went to Australia who became very wealty, could be his brothers). This is from Letters of R. J. Kelly his son. Thomas married a Ann Hishon about 1852 as their oldest child was born Jan. 1853 in. I was hoping someone could tell me for Thomas to have bought land in Illinois would he have had to prove citizenship? dkelly@nebi.com
