ISO: ancestors and any related information on the family of Charles James Kelley, born Aug 31, 1855 (or 56), probably in Wisconsin. No info before this time. He married Ida U. Burlew (or Berlow). They married in Fair Haven, Huron County Michigan in Oct 1876. They had the following children and according to census data, all were born in Wisconsin: Charles O.(b.Oct 1879); Frances G. (b. Aug 1881); Emily J. (b.Apr 1883); Levelia-aka "Hattie" (b. Feb 1885); Walter W. (b. Jan 1887); Fred J. (b. Aug 27, 1888 in Wood County); and Eva (b. July 15, 1891). They lived in and around the central Wisconsin area including Wood County and Juneau County. and then, sometime between 1900 and 1910, Charles, Ida and several of the children moved to Oregon. The father of Charles James Kelley is "reported" to have been Owen Kelley. It was also popularly believed that Owen had lived in the Milwaukee area and that he may have had a medical practice. (WI state historical society and medical society do not have him listed as such, however), but he could have had Ireland, Michigan, or New York roots as his wife's (Ida) family had come from Prattsburgh,Steuben County, NY. The ancestors of Charles James Kelley remain a mystery - after almost 15 years of looking. If you find them, please tell them their descendants are looking "high and low". :) Regards, Jim Kelley "on the prairies of Kansas" Jim Kelley kelley@twsuvm.uc.twsu.edu
