JAMES KELLEY was the oldest of 13 children born to BARNABAS KELLEY & MARGARET MENERVIA SCALES. He was living at home with his parents in Cobb Co., Ga., in 1850. His parents and siblings have moved to Walker County, Al. by 1860. Family stories say that James married and moved to Tennessee; later fought for the South during the Civil War.
