On page 125, lines 9 and 10, of the 1830 census of Perry Co, Illinois are: Joseph Kelley 200001-20001 Reuben Kelley 00001-10001 This Reuben Kelley is the son of Reuben and Lavisa Kelley of Laurens Co, SC and Bedford Co, TN and his wife is Elizabeth Culberson Jones, the daughter of Matthew and Rachel Gallegly Jones, also of Laurens Co, SC, Bedford Co, TN and Perry Co, Illinois. I don't know who Joseph Kelley is. He is not a brother of Reuben. Reuben's father died in 1815 in Bedford Co, TN and his land was bought by two of the heirs. Eight shares were mentioned and eight heirs have been identified--no room for Joseph. Reuben Kelley, Sr. was the son of Nelson Kelley of Stafford and Fairfax Co, VA; Anson Co, NC; Laurens Co, SC; and Bedford Co, TN. It appears Nelson Kelley had a son, William Kelley, who married Martha (b 1778), daughter of Edward Garrett of Laurens Co, SC. Could this Joseph be a son of William and Martha Garrett Kelley?
