O.K. out there in Kelley cousin land. I don't think Giles who married to Martha Ford DeJarnette is my Giles. FROM MY MANY NOTES::: Conflict in that that Giles on census in 1810 and 1820 in KY still. My Giles was on census in Clark Co./Pike Co. by then. Euline Giles Kelley Sr. and Sarah had Samuel b 1806, William, James b 1806, Giles b 1773 and Susannah. All born VG.... Euline Giles Kelley Sr. and Sarah Lightfoot's son Giles Jr. who married DeJarnette had Giles III, Daniel born 1801 VG, Patsy and Polly (married McGlasson), Emily, Susannah and John W. Martha Ford DeJarnette Kelley died either in childbirth or shortly after birth of John W in 1816. My Giles had Sampson b 1796, William b 1974 TN, Elijah b 1800 TN, Polly (married McFadden). He was in IL by 1804 and then AR by 1815. My Giles had William, Elijah, Polly and Sampson. Elijah's obits (written in 1881)said that his mother instructed him to take the new testament, study and follow. So she was probably still alive when he was 10 plus years old...maybe 1810 or so. She may have died before they came to AR but after TN and probably in IL. Elijah had schooling in Decatur Co. Ala, probably after he married his first Elizabeth because first 2 or so children born AL. I do believe I found property there in Elijah's name. (don't have my notes on that close). David Kelley thinks Giles Sr. had James and he had Giles and that may be ours. He also thinks that maybe a Giles that was in Chatham Co. NC in 1790 and left there for TN about the time our Giles was on the move might be the connection. I have found where a Giles b before 1779 Halifax NC married Selah Wall b before 1779. I sent my sister a note that I found a Giles married to a Martha or Margaret Farris. Elijah and his first Elizabeth had a daughter named Margaret Farris Kelley. May be a good hint at his mother's maiden name..... Jim Winston or Don Bone said there was an Indian massacre having to do with William Kelley wife Rebecca McMahan's family. what is the story.... There was a brother Rev Samuel Kelley who lived in Howard Co. AR. A writeup found by David Kelley??? or a bio on the AR pages shows about a Rev. Samuel B. Kelley who was the youngest son that came with a Scott caravan from TN to AR thru all the wilds and there was also an indian massacre --- another possible cousin said that her relative came from TN to AR with the J. O. Scott caravan, Are all of these related, are they the same caravan. This Rev. Samuel BURKE KELLEY had settled in Nashville, Pike Co. (They were from Nashville TN and brought the name with them) (story from 1942). Nashville is now in Howard County at border line of Pike Co. AR. Could he be the youngest son of my Sampson, the brother between William and Giles. And will Martha make up with George since he broke up with Alice....Ha Ha Ha It does start to sound like a commercial for a soap... OK cousins, tell me about the massacres and anything else on here you know about. June March jmarch@pe.net a Texan in California My Mary Elizabeth Kelley married Dennis Houston Parsons her Father James Ashley Kelley was the son of Elijah Kelley and his second Elizabeth.
