    1. Kelley vs. Kelly
    2. Jim Moses
    3. Our Kelley line has always, to my knowledge, been Catholic, and spelled the name with the 'e'. I have seen it without the 'e' in some documents, though, so I have thought that the person writing the document must have a preferred spelling. By the way, I am interested in NY Kelleys. My Kelley line starts with Michael, probably born between 1800 and 1808, and his wife, Catharine _____, born between 1805 and 1810, depending on which census record you use. They both may have died in Mt. Morris, Livingston County, NY, but I do not have proof of anything, even dates. They had, according to my records, nine children. All were born in NY, with the last two being born in Mt. Morris. They are: John, Michael, Mary A., James, Thomas, Frank, Jane, Charles Alfred, and Kitty. Charles Alfred is my direct ancestor. John may have been a NY representative in the 34th and 35th Congresses. The line continues today in Ionia County MI. If anyone has any information on my line I would love to hear from you. I am currently trying to trace John and his role in the Congress, and I am also trying to find out when the family arrived in New York. I have no idea except that I have found Michael and Catharine in the 1850 and 1860 census and their oldest son, John was born in NY about 1833 or 1834. Thanks, Jim Moses
