Hello from Oregon! My John KELLEY was a Scotch-Irish sailor, born in the townland of Bangor, Co. Down, Ireland about 1809. In about 1841 he married a Mary CROZIER, dau. of James and Jane CROZIER. Mary allegedly disowned by her father, who was supposed to be an Army officer, "because she married beneath herself." John KELLEY's parents were weavers of "book linen", and lived above their shop in Bangor, according to family tradition. Mary died in 1847, 2 years after the birth of her 2nd child, John Jr. She is buried in the CROZIER plot with her parents in Bangor Abbey Graveyard. On the tombstone the father is: James Crozier, Sergt., R.S.D.M. What does the R.S.D.M. stand for??? Is it a military thing, a social organization, or some sort of a professional group? I would love an answer to this and also anything at all about the parents of John and Mary. Carole
