The following information is from: Welcome to The Irish Brigade Association's Website http://www.thewildgeese.com/iba/ "June 6: LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. -- The grave of Colonel Patrick KELLY, who gave his life leading the Irish Brigade into battle during the Civil War, will be marked once more at a June 6 ceremony after decades of neglect. The Galway Association of New York, with the help of the IBA, will unveil the memorial stone over KELLY's grave that day at First Calvary Cemetery, Long Island City, Queens, N.Y. The monument dedication will begin with a Mass, featuring music from harpist Penny Jones and singing by tenor Jim Luddy and bass Arthur Kirmss, in the cemetery chapel at noon. The monument unveiling will take place at 1 p.m. with a military procession led by re-enactors from Company A, 69th NYSV, portraying men from KELLY's command. "KELLY, who was born in Castlehacket, County Galway, Ireland, died as he led the Irish Brigade against Confederates troops at Petersburg, Va. in June 1864.
