I will try and get the document transcribed and posted on the Pike County UsGenWeb Site shortley. 1846 * Jan 1846 - Estate Papers for Tyre Kelley filed by Seaborn Kelley, his son. Lowndes Co., AL Orphans Court Records. Names heirs as follows: Zedoc, Seaborn, Gallant, William, Catherine, Dicey, Nicia, Matilda, Sarah, Anna plus the daughter of deceased daughter Elizabeth Graham and children of deceased sons Hiram and Grant. 1846 Jan Term Lowndes Co. Al. Supreme Court Bird verses Daniel - Writ of error to Circuit Court of Lowndes Co. Evidence was adduced by defendant, tending to show that consideration of notes was purchased of a tract of land belonging to and title was in one TYRE KELLEY who had died in possession of same, leaving several heirs, some of which were still in their minority. After the death of Kelley some of the heirs agreed to offer land for sale (The plantiff was not an heir of Tyre Kelley estate and had no interest in estate but merely acted as agent of the heirs). Author: RaymondKelly91 Surnames: KELLEY/KELLY/O'KELLY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kelley/5063/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Subject: Kelley/Kelly/O'Kelly Surname DNA Study Status: 4/14/2008 Greetings to All, We now have 156 participants. 138 Test Results are posted on our Website. 70 participants have a 12 Marker Match with another related participant. This consists of, 1 Group of 8, 1 Group of 7, 2 Groups of 6, 1 Group of 5, 4 Groups of 3, and 13 Groups of 2. We have 68 participants with no match. Our 138 Test Results represent 90 unique, unrelated, KELLY/KELLEY/O'KELLY Families. This means that when Surnames were adopted in Ireland about 900 AD that 90 different Families adopted the Surname KELLY (Gaelic Equivalent). DNA Testing is the only practical method to determine from which KELLY Clan we descend. Since there are a large number of Unique KELLY Clans we are going to have to get a large number of participants to find matches for those of us who haven't yet found a match. Studies done by Geneticist at Trinity University in Dublin. indicate that Murphy and Kelly are the two most popular Surnames in Ireland. However, DNA Studies carried out by the University indicate that the large number of people with Surname Kelly is due to multiple family founders as opposed to a single patrilineal line with a large number of descendants. Please contact your fellow KELLY/KELLEY/O'KELLY researchers and encourage them to participate. There are 68 of us who are still without a match. I will happily reimburse the cost of the DNA Test for the participant who matches my haplotype. 3. Oops, I already found a typo. George W. and Parthenia (which I cannot type correctly) were living in Cleburne County in 1880, not 1800! -----Original Message----- From: kelley-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:kelley-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Nancy Custer Sent: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 11:24 PM To: kelley@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KELLEY] Death dates or certs or obits for GF and GGF? Anniston/Birmingham AL, 1900 to 1915 Mike, This is not my family. However, I have two Kell(e)y lines from the South so I've spent a lot of time looking at the Kelleys in that part of the country. I have an idea that your biological great grandmother was Parthen(i)a Haley. In 1800, there is a George W. Kelly age 22, born GA, and his wife Parnthenia, age 23, born AL, living in Cleburne County AL. I did a few wildcard searches of the 1860 and 1870 censuses for Parn* born in AL around 1857-58. Of that group, there was a Parthen(i)a Haley who had a brother (among others) named Daniel Haley. Next door to George and Parthenia Kelly in 1880 is Daniel Haley and his wife Nancy and their six month old son Ambrose Haley. The Haley family is living in Randolph County, AL in 1860 and in Heard County, GA in 1870. Both very close to the GA/AL state line. Cleburne County AL is the next county over from Calhoun County where Anniston, AL is. If you will look again at the 1900 Birmingham census, you will see that living next door to your George W. Kelly family is Nannie Haley, a widowed head of household with a son named Ambrose. In 1910, Nancy Haley and Ambrose are still in Birmingham and living with them is Nancy's niece, Bessie Kelley age 25. (Ambrose seems to be supporting them all by working as an ice cream salesman!) The parents of Parthenia and Daniel Haley were Ambrose M. Haley and Elizabeth. Lots of siblings on the census too. There seem to be a couple of land records for Ambrose Haley at Ancestry. Anniston/Birmingham AL, 1900 to 1915 Hi Kelley's and Kelly's and relatives, I'm searching for death info for my GF, George Singleton Kelly, who died in Anniston AL approx. 1907 or so. I have his marriage license from 1901 and my dad was born in 1903. My GM remarried in 1910, so it must have been a year or more before then. Family tradition says he died of TB, "galloping consumption" as they called it. Also searching for any info about the life and death of my GGF, George W. Kelly. I show him in Anniston City Directory in 1896 and 1898, then Birmingham in 1900 census, married for four years then to new wife Nannie, living with her and his three children (including my GF) from previous wife, name unknown. Next I find him listed as a widower in the 1910 census, but he's an inmate in Jefferson County Jail. I am searching for my real GGM's death info, his new wife's info and marriage license or cert. My GGM must have died before 1896 and after 1892, the date of birth of her last child, my great-uncle (grand-uncle?) Henry D. Kelly. I have found no info on what happened to GGF after 1910, why he was in jail, or what happened to any family members except my GF, George Singleton Kelly, and very little about him. I haven't found any of the 1900 family in the 1910 or later censuses. Any help at all would be so very much appreciated. Is anyone in Anniston or Birmingham able and willing to search records for me? I live in upstate NY now and cannot easily travel to AL, I'm old, broke and sick. I'd really like to get more info together for my kids, as my family never wanted to discuss Kelly history and left me with almost no information. I believe you will find that he could have only been there between 1803-1804. For he shows in the 1789 tax list in Jackson Co. Ga. He then appears again in 1800 and 1801 then Clark Co. was formed from Jackson then Tyre shows there on the 1802 tax list for Clark. Now he has not yet been located in Ga. records for 1803 or 1804 but shows back up in 1805 land lottery in Clark Co. Ga. We then know that he begins to show up in Morgan Co. Ga. around 1808.
