    1. [KELLEY] Bridgett Kelley, born Ireland 1825; immigrated to Ohio in 1850
    2. Herman
    3. My GGM, Bridgett Kelley, is alleged to have given birth to eleven (11) children. When she immigrated aboard the vessel "New World" in January 1850 from Liverpool to New York, there were eight other Kelly/Kelley's aboard the ship. My GM, Kate Kelley, was born in Ohio in May 1854. Kate "married" Homer Boone and had two daughters, Carrie (1869, Cincinnati) and Cecelia (1883, Cincinnati). Long time between those two births which may explain early deaths of some children, or maybe that the two were not from the same Kelley family. HHFranke Wilmington, NC

In addition to James J. Kelly whom I introduced in an earlier post, my third great grandmother was Martha (Patsey) Kelly. Patsey Kelly married William Dorsey in 1826 in Burke County, NC. I am pretty sure she was born in South Carolina. William and Martha Kelly moved from Burke County through Macon County, NC and eventually ended up in Pickens County, SC. There are number of Kelly families in the public record. Some of whom even followed the same migration pattern. However, we have not been able to assign her to a Kelly family as yet. Martha and William's son Elisha encountered some sort of problem after the Civil War and changed his name to Harvey Kelley and moved from Pickens (or then Oconee) County to Cumberland County, TN. We have enough circumstantial evidence, family stories, and DNA matches to support this name change and move. However, we still have no idea what event precipitated it. 3. Hi, my Grandfather was William Allen Kelley, born in Canada, grew up in Afton, Union County, Iowa. He was born in 1876. No record of him 1920 on... cannot find any more, anyway. No death record found yet. My father never spoke about him other than to say that he drove a buckboard (deliveries, I believe, as Grandpa's father had some sort of store) and my Dad went with him sometimes. He and my Grandmother divorced when my Dad was a kid and she died when I was about 8 yrs old so no info there. He worked in the shipyards at the time of WW1 and a kind lister sent me a copy of his draft registration. His parents were Robert B. & Priscilla Kelley. My Dad was the only child with Grandma, her name was Bessie Aley Ownby, from Decatur City, Decatur County, Iowa. I've looked and looked. He's the biggest brick wall I have....seems I have lots of info on him but then he disappears. Love this list! Thanks, Barbara

Well, the furthest my Kelly line goes back is to John MacKelley b 1687 in Scotland d 1751 in Scotland m Susannah s John Kelly Kelley , grandfather of Asa Peter Kelly, a troubled little lad who would probably like my husband, his many times over great grandson. On a more personal note, I'd like to find my sixth grade teacher, Alex Kelly and thank him for his kindness. He pulled his retirement money out of the teacher's system in the 70's and did not go back to teaching. He'd be about retirement age now, but I've thought of him often over the years. -******************
