    3. If you want to do your own research that's fine, but you can't speak for everyone to decline someone's offer to help. I personally have had better luck when someone else looks up SSDI info. then if I do it myself. So, Jerilyn Johnson, I myself accept your offer of help for SSDI searching. I will see what I've got. I don't believe Elizabeth Richardson speaks for all. Just my opinion Alli ---------- > From: Elizabeth Richardson <erich@ktn.net> > To: KELLEY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: SSDI I have access to > Date: Saturday, May 16, 1998 1:40 AM > > The SSDI is available through: > > http://www.ancestry.com > > Please, let us all do our own searches. > > Elizabeth Richardson > erich@ktn.net > > ---------- > > From: Jerilyn Johnson <jaibird@infocom.com> > > To: KELLEY-L@rootsweb.com > > Subject: SSDI I have access to > > Date: Thursday, May 14, 1998 4:44 PM > > > > My new genealogy program lets me do searches on names for the social > > security death index for any surname, any state. 3. Pauline, I don't have very good information on these people. Peter Philen, Sr. should have been born about 1760, probably in South Carolina. He died about 1836 in Wilcox Co, AL. His wife's first name was Fereby according to census records, but I don't know her last name or when she was born or died. Sarah Philen should have been born about 1786, probably in Darlington District, SC and died about 1814 in South Carolina. She married Charles Chaney in South Carolina, but I don't have any dates on him. Her children; William Chaney was born somewhere around 1810 in South Carolina and died before 1880 in Clarke Co, AL. Sarah Chaney was born in the same time period, also in South Carolina. She died March 12, 1902 in Clarke Co, AL. Sarah Chaney married Asa Kelley, probably in South Carolina, possibly in Darlington District. Asa was born probably between 1790 and 1800, possibly in South Carolina and died about 1848 in Wilcox Co, AL. Asa's parents appear to be John Kelley and Hannah Moon. I don't know where they came from or when, when or where they married, or what became of them. Asa had brothers who migrated to Clarke and Wilcox Counties, AL: Jesse, who died before 11/18/1834; John; Austin; Boston; Robert; and Enoch. This is about the best I can do for the time being. Gerry

    3. I am a descendant of Asa Kelley, who married Sarah Chaney. Sarah was the daughter of Charles Chaney and Sarah Philen. Sarah Philen was the daughter of Peter Philen, Sr. I know little about these people. I think Charles Chaney and Sarah Philen were married in South Carolina and had two children there; William and Sarah. Sarah Philen died there. I believe Asa Kelley and Sarah Chaney were married in South Carolina. Peter Philen, Sr. migrated to Wilcox County, Alabama, as did Asa and Sarah Kelley, and possibly Charles Chaney. I am working with a friend in documenting all the marked graves in Clarke Co, AL and will be glad search the records for anyone. If you know you have someone buried here, but do not have the birth or death dates, or know what cemetery they are in let me know, and if there is a marker, I will get the information for you. Also, if you just want to check to see if someone is buried here let me know. I will help any way I can. Gerry L. Fendley
