Looking for information on James Kelly Born Abt.1840-1850. Lived and farmed in County Longford, in area near or in Granard Township. Family emigrated around 1882 to Derby, Connecticut. Wife--Ann (Tierney) Kelly Nine children--Patrick, Bertha, Mary, Ann, Catherine, Julia, Elizabeth, James, and Thomas. Patrick and Bertha had preceded the family to USA. James the father returned to Ireland in later years. No other information on him is available. Any information on the familles roots in Ireland will be appreciated.
I was going through a portion of cemetery records someone forwarded me. As I was going through them I found 'other' KELL(E)Y's who I can at present not connect them to my family. I know how elusive KELL(E)Y's are so I thought I would pass them on to you. You never know if someone somewhere might be looking for them. Now, seems strange but, Lee County next county over keeps some cemetery records for Ledbetter. That is why they were found in Lee County Cemetery Records. Buried in Ledbetter Cemetery, Ledbetter, Fayette, Texas: Frank L. KELLY B. Mar 27, 1866 D. Jan 4, 1893 "One precious to our hearts has gone, The voice we loved is stilled, The place made vacant in our home can never more be filled." Addie E. KELLY wife of Frank L. KELLY B. Nov 22, 1866 D. Aug 9, 1896 "Dearest loved one we have laid thee in the peaceful grave's embrace but thy memory shall be cherished till we see thy heavenly face." Oscar Ben KELLY B. Feb 7, 1892 D. Sep 19, 1892 "Gone to be an angel." (Grave covered by seashells) I am not sure who this child is but, I would bet since all three of these graves are side by side he is the child of the above. Hello, I'm new to this list and live at Canyon Lake, Texas. I want to also thank Paula, my neighbor in San Antonio for hosting this list. I need help with finding the ancestors of Zina KELLY, b. c. 1820 LA. Zina married abt. 1838 probably in Jasper Co., TX, Martin PARMER. Martin was a very colorful early Texas settler and signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. I suspect that Zina was related to Barbary and Alexander KELLY found in the 1840 Jasper Co., TX Census. There is also a Daniel KELLY found in the 1846 Jasper Co., Census. From Texas Confederate Pension Application Files, there was an Alexander Daniel KELLEY who filed for a pension as well as his wife, Sarah Frances. This Alexander Daniel may be a brother to Zina . Martin PARMER bought a home in Walker Co., TX and died in 1850 before he could move his family. Zina moved to Walker Co. and raised Martin's family. Appreciate any help with this family. Thanks, Norwood Cooper E-mail address: ncooper@gvtc.com Web site: http://gvtc.com/~ncooper/
Anyone have information a Thomas Kelly, came to US about 1800-1806, married unknown Benton and had a daughter Winnifred - Winnifred was born in Tennessee in 1809. Family story says that her mother was on ship to US from England with her family and met Kelly on board ship, eloping when they landed. She was dead three years later, killed by Indians. Winnifred was raised by her grandparents but 1850 Missouri census shows her in a household with her husband, children and a Thomas Kelly age 79 and Letticia Kelly age 76 - I assume her father and a step mother?

I'm having a terrible time getting past this roadblock. Lawrence KELLEY was my gr.gr.grandfather. I can find nothing on him before 1870. At that time he was in Union Parish, LA. and had recently married an Ellen M. (maiden unk.) Stated age at that time was 45, birthplace was said to be NC. Ellen was 20. Birthplace AL. Subsequently 4 children were born. Lourena (never married), Adaline (married a RAMSEY), Wayne Ancell (my ancestor) and John. They moved from LA to AL and then to AR. While living in Faulkner Co. AR, approx. 1890, he came into the house with 2 other men, left with them and never returned. He would have been in his 50's by then. No one ever saw him or found a body. Ellen M. later married a Thomas O. Bailey of Faulkner Co. AR. I would appreciate anyone's help on this matter. Susan Kelley Fletcher

Hi out there! This is my first message to the list, but I have been reading for several days. I am looking for any information on Margaret Kelly who married Michael Brearton and had a son, William Brearton on January 14,1851 in Guelph, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. I believe Michael came to Canada from Ireland, but don't know when he and Margaret were married or if they had other children. I do not know what happened to them after William was born. William emigrated to Ohio where he married Emma Olivia Lane in 1875 and then moved to Morrison,Illinois. William and Emma were my great grandparents. Any relatives out there or information on Margaret and Michael? Thanks in advance, Nancy Bosley
Hi there, I am new to the list and look forward exchanging information with all of you. I am the grandaughter of Walter Thurman Kelley and Icie Belle Atkins of Jasper, AL, the great grandaughter of Benjamin DeKalb Kelley and Roxannah Maddox of Eldridge, AL and the great great grandaughter of John Kelley and Martha Franklin of Eldridge, AL and am fortunate enough to have quite a bit of information on the Kelleys. What I hope to find is more information on John's parents and any information on all of their wives (Icie Belle, Roxannah and Martha). I would be delighted to share what I have. Thank you, Patsy
My great-grandmother.Bridget Kelly, was born Dec.28,1864 at Turlagharee, Frenchpark, County Roscommon. Her father was John and her mother was Mary Gilleran. Bridget, or Nessie, as she called herself emigrated to Boston,Ma. where she married and raised a family. I kbow of one sister that also emigrated to Boston. Her name was Abby, but I can not find a birth record for her. I find the family on the Griffiths Valuation as well as a Bernard Kelly living on a neighboring farm but on the 1901 census there are no Kellys' at Turlagharee. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Diane

I am not researching Giles Kelly but I found the following information and thought I would pass it on. I just happened to be browsing on the following website: Irish Passenger Lists http://freespace.virgin.net/alan.tupman/sites/irish.htm On the first ship passenger list, for the St. George, I found Giles Kelly listed. I am not researching Giles, but I know that others on the Kelley List have posted messages about him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ St. George - London - Waterford - Maryland - Oct 7, 1677 Following is the passenger list for the St. George, a merchant ship that sailed from Waterford, Ireland to Maryland (don't know what port) in 1677, carrying 180 passengers. "Oct. 7 [1677] Portsmouth. Ralegh Hull to Robert Yard. This morning sailed from Spithead the St. George of London for Waterford and thence for Maryland, wind N. E." On November 1, 1678, John Quigley, a merchant captain, not the captain of the ship, appeared before the Secretary of Maryland and applied for land warrants for transporting 180 settlers into the province on the ship St. George of London. Following is the list of settlers. The original spelling is duplicated, along with the original order of names. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Paula Kelley Ward San Antonio, Texas pward@express-news.net "Genealogy is the art of confusing the dead and irritating the living.

Hello fellow researchers... I just rec'd this on another mailing list and it makes me wonder What are My State's laws and guidelines for cemetery removals!! This is rather lenghty however it Should be of interest to ALL of us!! Carolyn Here it is: If you are interested in the outrageous (and legal) removal and destruction of old cemeteries, please read the newspaper article from Indiana (shown below the addresses). If you are compelled, as I was, to write I have provided the addresses. I spent quite a bit of time looking up all the folks mentioned in the news article. I will be writing and sending cc:'s to all the addresses below. Maybe letters to the editor of the Star & News would also help. Hi! I feel frustrated that I can't help you. All my Kelly's are from Hazel Dell, IL where, apparently the saying at the turn of the century was "In Hazel Dell, you can't spit without hitting a Kelly." Hazel Dell was founded by my ggggrandfather, John Barrett Kelly. My sister and I visited last summer. Not much to it but we came home with quite alot of information(e.g. town history, exerpts from a Kelly diary,as well as a family tree taken at a 1925 reunion). However, that contains more earlier births than later. There are not too many families that are listed after 1886, but I would sure bet if your Shelby is from Hazel Dell that eventually you'll end up back to Lawrence Kelly(b. 1740) and Martha Smith(b. 1742). I will keep looking and see if we can't find that connection. Lynda Sokolowski
