Merry Christmas everyone! Our most wanted remains the same. The parents of Roland Long Kelly. Roland was born in Goldsboro NC in the early 1900's. He had a sister named Lily and a brother named Fred. It is strange but we have been unable to find Roland on the Social security death list. He died in the early 1970's in Mexico. He is my wife's father. She never met any of Roland's kin since he divorced and remarried. This is kinda a backwards approach compared to the way most are looking for kin. Thanks, Tom and Fran Myatt
I sent this directly to Diane, but I thought I should post it to the list as well: Irish for grandmother: seanmháthair (literally "old mother") pronounced shawn- vaher; a nicer version is mathair mhór ("great mother") pronounced maher-more Irish for grandma: mamo pronounced ma-mo or morai pronounced more-e Irish for grandfather: seanathair ("old father") pronounced shawn-aher; athair mór ("great father") pronounced aher-more Hope this helps...Congrats!
I'd like to find the family of SAMUEL KELLEY, who was born about 1745 and was in Somerset Co. New Jersey in 1763. His son EBENEZER T. KELLEY was born there in 1763, married Rachael Johnson in Alleghany Co. MD in 1790 and they moved to Randolph Co. West Va. His son JOHNSON KELLEY was born there in 1810, married Sarah Yoak in 1830 there. Their daughter MELVINA KELLEY was born there in 1833 & married James Henderson Garrett in Barbour Co. W.Va in 1852. After Melvina was widowed, she moved with her children to Linn Co. Mo. to be near her brother, John Wesley Kelley who was married to Anne Garrett. Does anyone have Kelley's in Somerset Co. New Jersey in the 1763 period?? Thanks, Carol

Good Morning, My most wanted KELLEYS are: Benjamin KELLEY b. 1780 in Virginia do not know who his wife was, the only child I have for him is: William KELLEY b. 1814 in Virginia m. December 19, 1839 Eleanor BENNETT b. 1820 in Shelby County, Indiana. William and Eleanor's children: Abel KELLEY b. 1840 Benjamin F. KELLEY b. 1841 John KELLEY b. 1844 Madison N. KELLEY b. 1848 m. Pricilla TRIMBLE William Perry KELLEY b. 1849 m. Frances C. MILLER Emily KELLEY b. 1852 Sarah KELLEY b. 1853 Andrew J. KELLEY b. 1855 m. Alice Wilson Lewis C. KELLEY b. 1858 m. Harriet SWANGO All of these KELLEYS except Benjamin the elder were in the 1850 census for Shelby County, Indiana. They were all in the 1860 census for Shelby County, including Benjamin. I can put Madison in Shelby in 1869 because of his marriage. Andrew J. and Lewis C. were still there in 1881 and 1884 respectively because of their marriages, can find no other data. Any help appreciated. Thanks Maureen
My most wanted are: C. O'KELLEY m. to Nancy ? Her tombstone in the family cemetery in Judsonia, White County, AR says "Nancy O'Kelley, Wife of C. O'Kelley". "C" is not buried there. The first time I find her is the 1860 census of White Co. AR. She is 34 yrs. old, born in NC and she and 3 children, Martha, age 12; John, age 11 (my g-grandfather); and William, age 9 are living with a 52-year old widow (M.E. MORROW) and G.W. MORROW, age 21 (probably her son). The widow and son came from NC and the first 2 children of Nancy O'KELLEY were born in NC but William was born in TN. In the 1880 census Nancy was living with son, John who was married to Malinda A. OWEN. I have a lot on the OWENs. In the 1890 tax role, Nancy and John were listed separately. She died 9/17/1895. So I figure sometime between 1849 (when youngest son, William was born) and 1860, C. died. Since William was born in TN, the last KNOWN place they were before coming to AR, it's possible they lived either lived there or were passing through. Thanks, Diane O'Kelley Nylin

Hi, I posted this once before and a lot of kind people offered what they had -- thanks again for that. Maybe someone new out there can help or someone came up with more info. Hannah Kelley -- born in the 1780's. Married to Enoch Dean. Died in the early 1840's. They moved from Huntingdon County, PA to Mercer or Butler County PA in about 1815 to 1818. Very possible she was born in Maryland or her family was in Maryland before moving to Huntingdon County close to the time she was born (Baltimore and/or Carroll counties). They had 7 children: Abel W., Aaron Barton, Mary Eleanor, Jerusha, Lemmon, Hannah J., Julianne L. I have lots of info on the Deans, but nothing on the Kelley family. Any help appreciated. Lucy
My most wanted KELLYs are the parents of Robert Kelly who were in SC when he was born in 1790 (at least his mother was). Robert went to MO. I don't know how old he was when he went to MO. He married Maria Magledena GROUNDS. She was born in NC. I don't have the marriage date or place. Their first child Priscilla was born in 1816 in MO.

Our web page is http://www.wombat.ie/pages/kelly/ Kellys, Kelleys, OKellys, OCeallaighs however it is spelled for our Clan Rally next May 21 1999 See Press Release The name O'Kelly, Kelly, Kelley, Kellie and O Ceallaigh is the second commonest surname in Ireland and approximately half a million people worldwide would bear the name. Many of the Kelly would have descended from Maine Mor, King of Hymany. His kingdom covered an area of two hundred square miles in the Counties of Galway and Roscommon. The Kelly Clan are planning a gathering in Portumna, Co. Galway in May 1999. The weekend will include lectures and tours to famous Kelly places and lands culminating with a medieval banquet and music. The O'Kelly name came into being independently in several areas such as Ulster, Leinster, Munster, Isle of Man, England, Scotland, Connacht. The largest Sept of Ui Maine has been predominant among these. It is hoped in the future the Association will purchase and refurbish a former Kelly Castle in Ireland and make is into a Museum and Library. This would be a repository of books by and about Kelly's and other information relating to Kelly's. The castle would be a Mecca for Kelly's worldwide.
