Hello, We get this info from another List - not geneology - but it has very informative facts, history included. Sending this to my lists because it tells of the first map. Are there any indexes for the NYC indexes for the 1860 or 1870 cencus or any NY states census before 1876. I am looking for a John Kelly who was married to Bridget Shields. John Kelly died in 1876. I have John Kelly's death record but I am trying to find out when he came to the U.S. His death record indicates that he was in NYC for 22 years so that means he came in 1854 if his death record is correct. My grandmother was Mary Ellen Kelly who was born in 1870. Bob Rodriguez Rodriguez_B@apsicc.aps.edu

I have just returned from a frustrating and expensive trip to Philly, trying to get birth and death dates for Dr. William F. Kelly, or Thomas F. Kelly. The doc is the only one listed in the telephone directories from 1928 to 1948. I believe that he was the son of Thomas F., who was born in Ireland and married Mary McManus of Ireland. He graduated from "Medico Chirurgical College" in Philadelphia on May 23, 1903. Census records show him as residing at 1200 Poplar in Philadelphia. I searched records at New Cathedral and Holy Seplecure Cemeteries to no avail. Anybody know where the records for that college might be? If I can crack these dates I can direct my research to Ireland and quit pounding my head against the wall. I have data for Kelly's in Rochester NY if anyone needs it. John Kelly
Sorry folks, need to take a breather from all of the searching for a bit. Need to catch up on the "land of the living" as my family calls it!
