I'm hunting Kelly/O'Kelly as follows; SAMUAL O'KELLY (SAMUELL O'KELLY as he signed his will, but there are some other documents signed as Kelly) was born in Ireland and married ANN(last name unknown). they had 7 children; DAVID KELLY (this is my line) & JOHN KELLY (the two oldest) born in Ireland other sons born in New Jersey are JOSEPH WILLIAM ZACIHRIA(spelling is probably wrong as it's from a copy of Samual's will) SAMUAL BENJAMIN David married a MARY CUNNINGHAM and they had 7 children, but I only know my line who is CHARLES KELLY(born b 1769 N.J.) and one brother named JOESEPH KELLY who married Sarah Smith and had 14 children. CHARLES married CORNELIA GAULTY b 1769 and they had 9 children ; MARY KELLY b 1788 near Morristown N.Y. JOESPH C. KELLY b 1791 near Morristown N.Y BENJAMIN C. KELLY b 1793 (this is my line) near Morristown N.Y THOMAS KELLY b 1795 near Morristown N.Y JOHN C. KELLY b 1796 near Morristown N.Y HANNAH KELLY b 1797 near Morristown N.Y LYDIA KELLY b 1802 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. WILLIAM C. KELLY b 1804 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. DAVID KELLY b 1804 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. CHARLES KELLY b 1809 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. STEVEN B. KELLY b 1811 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. MEHITABLE KELLY b 1816 in Kelly's Corners, Seneca county, N.Y. Benjamin moved to Seneca county Ohio about 1834 and was a soldier in the War of 1812. If all this gets confusing, you can get alot of this from WFT Vol. 1 , tree # 2846 and there is a little more info at WFT Vol. 3 , pedigree #1144. The hardest thing to find right now is if Samual came over from Ireland in the mid 1700s and there were no immigration systems as it all belonged to England and I even found there are some passenger list that came over on British Man of Wars. There were no restrictions as to the ports that they landed at, so the records of that time are very sketchy at best. Thanks in advance for any help in my search. Warren J Kelly wjkelly@usit.net

I don't think I've had John on the list for about a month and we gather new members all the time, so thought I'd make a Feb. Posting. According to the 1850 census, John KELLEY was born about 1790 in NC. I know he was still alive in Montgomery Co, IN at the time of the 1850 census, but have been unable to find him in an 1860 census yet. He married Desdemonia BROWN, dau of John BROWN and Mary VANCE in what is now Perry Co, KY about 1815. They migrated to IN about 1830. Following are their known children, all born in KY with the exception of the youngest. Lorenzo Dow KELLEY Francis H. KELLEY m. Nancy J BALDWIN Margaret KELLEY m. John R. KELLEY b. Bangor, Co., Down, 1845 was the son of John KELLEY and Mary CROZIER. His mother died in Aug 1847 and his father took John and his 8 year old sister Martha I. KELLEY to live with his parents. Tradition said that the parents were weavers of "book linen" and lived above their shop. In 1850 the John Sr. immigrated with his new wife Elizabeth and the two kids to the USA and settled in Troy Twp, Sauk Co., Wisconsin. At the age of 16 John R. joined the Union Army to fight in the Civil War. John R. married Sophronia JONES, the widow of William Young, in Apr. 1881 in Ohio, Jewell Co., Kansas. Only child Nellie May KELLEY was born 30 Oct 1882 in Kansas. John died in Dec 1911 in Salem, Oregon while visiting his sister Martha THOMAS, and he is buried there. Martha's husband was less than thrilled about his brother-in-law dying on them.....the last time they had seen him was in Kansas. He had taken their horse and wagon in to town and had never come back. That was 25 years before. What became of his daughter Nellie May? Her mother died in 1919 in Formosa, Kansas. I would love to exchange information on any of these people. Carole in Portland, Oregon

Is there an archive of messages on the list? I need to look at some posts from last fall, but don't see anything on the rootsweb pages about an archive.
I've been looking for relatives of my g-g-g grandmother Judith Kelley Thompson for my current family history project. I had such a wonderful experience that I want to share it. I'm working with the story of a trip my g-g-g grandparents took out west in 1869 to visit relatives who had moved away from Vermont over the years. I have the letters they wrote & received during their journey to Wyoming & Erie counties in NY, and to Lake City, Wabasha Co., MN. Friday night I found names of my g-g-g grandmother's longlost brother & his family in western NY from the website of the family he married into. I checked the website for NY graves, but didn't find the right cemetery, so I e-mailed the guy who posted info about nearby cemeteries. The next morning, he drove to the town, discovered another cemetery there, copied the headstones, & e-mailed me back with the info on the people I was looking for! Astounding! OK, so here's what I have so far. Family tradition says that these Kelleys are not Irish, but at some point they had to be, didn't they? 1 - Brothers: Benjamin b. I am looking for any information on Allen KELLEY from Fayette County, Ohio. He was born in 1882 in Madison County, Ohio. His wife's names was ELIZABETH CHAPMAN. All of their children were born in Fayette County. I do know that Allen had a brother by the name of HOWARD KELLEY and that Howard was married to ETHEL SEXTON. They also resided in Fayette County. Allen and Elizabeth are my great-grandparents and my grandmother only knew their names as she was raised by her uncle. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me. Teresa Kidd
