    1. Kelley Family - VT > OH > MI (Assistance needed on where to search)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Kelley Moher Minnie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CYm.2ACIB/3081 Message Board Post: This is a pure shot in the dark, but I must try. If you can provide any ideas on where I can find more information, I'd be most appreciative! I am working on my husband's genealogy and we are in search of his grandfather, William G. Kelley. Supposedly he was a golden gloves boxer in Ohio, though I have no idea how to find any information on it. His name is William G. Kelley, he married Mildred Alice Minnie on Dec. 21, 1926 in Lucas County, Ohio. According to the marriage record it states that he was born in Vermont (around 1906 - based off the 1930 census in Detroit, Michigan) and we think he died sometime after 1959 in Toledo, Ohio. They had two children, a daughter who died at a very young age around 1931 and my husband’s father, Richard Kelley. The marriage certificate states that his parents are William Kelley and Alice Moher, and they had two other children Margaret F. Kelley (1902-1987) and Agnes Kelley. Supposedly his parents passed on and his sister Margaret raised him in Detroit, Michigan. Sometime after his daughter's death, he left so that Mildred could receive government benefits to feed her and their son. He never came back. I'm trying to figure out what happened to him and being that he has a common name it hasn't been an easy task. Any ideas on where I can search for him?

    1. Response to RE: Watt P. Kelly/Kelley in FL
    2. Hi, Peg I do not recognize the name Watt P. Kelly, however, I do have a Kelly ancestor (James Kelly) who was born in NC and his wife (Emily Watkins) was born in SC. I think my James was born around 1814 however, so I'm not sure about the 53 year age difference, if he would be father to your Watt P., though I'm sure it wasn't unheard of. I will look further into this. Good luck! Karla Georgia In a message dated 4/5/2005 4:05:09 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Hello, I am looking for help with a brick wall. 3. Leslie: None of the names you mention are familiar with our Kelley's. My grandfather Emory Ellsworth Kelley brought his mother Sarah C. (Vanordoll) Kelley and his brother west by covered wagon arriving in White Salmon, Washington in 1894. He was one of 6 children, Florence A., Clingman Delnort, Nellie Beuana, Ada, Emory Ellsworth, Bert. All of the family came west around that time, Bert migrated to Argentina and was killed down there. Their father was William David Kelley and he died in Mountain View, Oklahoma in 1914 and is buried there. He was a copper (barrel maker) and black smith in Black Well Oklahoma. We know that he had a second family there we just have never been able to get them to have any contact with us. The family was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio area. William was born in 1828 in Westmoreland County Penn, he was the oldest of 4 children that we know of, the parents were Irish Immigrants who died and the younger 3 children were placed with other families there names were Stephen Robert, and Ann. Any information you might have would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you. I was once in touch with a Leah Savage from the state of Washington.. Her address has changed and I have not seen her name or information around. She claimed that Nimrod Kelley was the ancestor of the Kelleys in Washington State. She believed that he came from West Virginia and then went to NC and then to Kentucky. I believe he went though SC and was in the 1790 and 1800 census of Pendleton District. From there he went to Kentucky and on to Washington State. He was married to Sarah Bell. I am not sure who his father was. He would have been the brother to my Milly Kelley who married Pleasant Sullivan. There are quite a few Kelleys who could have been their father. Nelson Kelley, Daniel Kelley, James Kelley or John Kelley. It is my brick wall. I know they were Baptist.
