Hi Susan, I had the DNA test from SMGF. It took about a year for them to post the results on their website. They tested 20 markers on my test, but a lot of the markers are different from other companys that do DNA testing like FTDNA. Still it was free, and hopefully I will be able to use it to some good. Hi Susan, I did the FREE DNA with SMGF long ago and have yet to see any results when searching by last name, two brothers also did the DNA test so I should see something with familiar names. I hear a rumor that they sold their data to another & DNA Ancestory.com uses the same Lab for their newly added DNA link. (????) The Social Security Death Index is available free at several websites: Rootsweb has the latest version of the SSDI, which is updated monthly. It can be searched for free at: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi The RootsWeb.com SSDI database has more search features than the others, and it is the same database as the one used at www.ancestry.com. Even more information is available at www.worldvitalrecords.com, where the free SSDI database is updated regularly, and every zip code for a deceased person's last residence is geo-coded to a detailed map of the area (and may pinpoint the location of any cemeteries nearby). Even though World Vital Records is a subscription website, the SSDI is free: World Vital Records - SSDI database is FREE at: http://www.worldvitalrecords.com/indexinfo.aspx?ix=ssdiall The above information is from: "ONLINE RESOURCES for Finding Living Relatives, Part I: Introduction," by William Dollarhide, published in Genealogy Pointers (10/16/07), a newsletter. My name is Shane Patrick Kelley. I live in Oscoda, MI. I am a little stuck as far as my genealology goes. I am trying to find records concerning my greatgreat-grandfather, Elzie Kelley. I don't have info as far as birth place and date, but I do have some other fun facts. He was married to a woman named Elizabeth Reynolds. They had plenty of kids(being catholic, makes sense). One of their sons(my great-grandfather), Archie Allen Kelley was born on Oct. 4th, 1886. To make a long story short, I need to find the missing link.
