    1. [KELLER] Johann Julius Keller
    2. Robert Salter
    3. I have come across a passport or personal identification document/book with entries dated around 1844 from Germany (Prussia). The name in the book is a Johann Julius Keller, most entries he goes by Julius Keller. The book identifies Julius as 18 years of age. If I'm reading the entries correctly (ca. 1844/1842) I place Julius born around 1824. Entries show he was born in a Town with the name of Lucka. There are two German listing for Lucka on the map that I could find. Based on some of the entries, I think the town of Lucka from which Julius came from is in the eastern part of Germany, half way between Leipzig and Zwickau. The book contains numerous entries concerning his travels throughout Germany, each location is stamped by a police official. Some of the later entries (1847) place Julius in the area of Hannover and Hamburg. Perhaps he later emigrated to the United States. Anyway, I located this mailing list on rootsweb and I thought someone may have knowledge of Julius Keller and would be interested in this book. I would like to get this book to its rightful owner(s). If someone is interested, please note I will be on vacation between Aug. 29 -Sep. 12 and will not be able to reply until I get back. Best regards, Bob Salter Minneapolis, Minnesota

    1. [KELLER] LIST UPDATE
    2. Glenn G. Geisheimer
    3. Hello Keller/Kellar Researchers, I have finished entering all the BRICK WALLS that have been sent to the list. For those of you who have submitted them please go to the following site and check them for mistakes: <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~geishome/ggg/listpage/kell.htm/kellwalldex.h tm> Out of the 128 subscribers to both the Keller and Kellar Mailing lists, only 24 entries have been submitted. That leaves 104 subscribers who haven't sent in their BRICK WALLS. From those that did, I have noticed something that has surprised me. All 24 entries are for the KELLER surname, none are for the KELLAR surname. Now for the other problem that I have noticed. The KELLAR mailing list has 104 subscribers while the KELLER mailing list has 42. 18 from each list are subscribed to the other list. That means that 86 subscribers to the KELLAR list don't see the posts to the KELLER list and 24 subscribers to the KELLER list don't see the posts to the KELLAR list. This is a problem that I believe we have to solve for the benefit of both lists. At this moment the only solution that I see is for the welcome message to explain this and try to get everyone to subscribe to one of the lists. I will be drafting a personal welcome message that I will send out in addition to the canned one from Rootsweb. This message will include the URL's for the Rootsweb Resources page, the Mailing List web site and the GenConnect Forums. I will also explain the BRICK WALL web pages and encourage the new subscribers to post their BRICK WALLS. It is in this message that I will explain the dual list situation and point them to the list that we decide will be the "HOME" list (if that is the solution that the majority agrees upon). I'd like everyone to give me feedback via my personal email address on these topics. Thank You, ------- Glenn G. 1. [KELLER] Brick Wall Update
    2. Glenn G. Geisheimer
    3. Hello Kellar/Keller Researchers, I'm about halfway through posting the Brick Walls. I should be done with the rest in a few days. (I work Wed - Sun). I'd like to remind everyone to please post to the list that you are subscribed to. I've received a few submissions to the wrong list that have bounced back to me and not been posted. In other words, if you belong to Kellar, then you have to post to Kellar, not to Keller even though your surname is KELLER. I realize that this dual list thing is a problem but it's something that WE have no control over. Also, if anyone believes that their KELLER/KELLAR ancestors came through Newark, New Jersey, I have a web site called "Virtual Newark" that may be of some assistance to you. I also own a 1940 Newark City Directory that lists many KELLERs, a few KELLARs and KOHLERs, and about 25 KOEHLERs. I guess that while I'm at it I will explain what else I do so that you'll understand if I don't answer your email for a day or so. I am also the County Coordinator for Middlesex and Essex Counties in New Jersey, the co-administrator of the Baden-Wurttemberg Mailing list and I have my own personal genealogy site. His tombstone says the birth date was 22 Sept 1837, but one can never be sure of such things, especially since he was young when he came to the U.S. Will you please provide anything that you have on the Christian Frederick KELLER that you mention?
