    1. [Keller] Hugh Kellar
    2. S. K. Ratcliffe
    3. Can you identify Hugh Kellar, probably born about 1848, probably in OH, who married Elizabeth Reed. They had a child born to them in Noble Co., OH in 1875, and there are Kellars in the birth records of Zanesville, OH, whose mother's maiden name was Reed. In the 1870 census Hugh was living with Henry and Elizabeth Phipps Kellar in Noble Co., OH, but he's not their son although they did have a son named Hugh---their son died in VA in 1927. Mystery Hugh may have been living in Cleveland in the 1880 census, ward 6. Who is he and how is he related to Henry and Elizabeth in Noble co.? 1. [Keller] KELLER info. that may help others....
    2. kateb
    3. I just got some information that may help some of you and also me too. I was in southern IN last year for about 8 days at 13 different libriaries and 3 courthouse. I made paper copies of all that I had found so that I could review what I had found. Well, this past Weds. I was cleaning out some files and had came across this: The Archives Division, IN State Library, also has the muster rolls of the men who joined the Mounted Rangers provided by Congress on June 16, 1832. The list includes men from KY, IL, and MO as well as IN. I met a friend/cousin on the net that lives in Indy and asked him if he would do some checking for me. Well he not only called them he went down there to copy what they had. My Riley Keller records were there[ which I already have] but what I was wanting was to know if there were any other KELLER listed with him. Bingo, he had several and also that my Riley was listed that he was born in TN, where the National Archives stated that he was born in NC, so who to believe? Anyway, the names listed are: Aaron - SC Militia David - MI " Fredrick - LA " George W. - GA " Jacob - TN " James - IL " John - GA " Joseph - IL " Louis - FL " Philip - TN " Robert - SC " This list from "Index to Volunteer Soldiers in Indiana Wars and Distrubances 1815-1858" by Virgil D. White. I did send to the National Archives for the 2 that are listed for TN to see just who they might have been and if there could be a chance be either Riley's brothers or father. 3. Because I have received a couple of messages from KELLER researchers stating that the KELLER name is Germanic and not Irish, I wish to explain why I sent the following post to the list. Sometimes the KELLER name is indeed a variation of KÖHLER, but the KELLER & KELLAR lists also have subscribers whose KELLER roots were Irish. These 2 lists were even originally formed by people of Irish descent who had previously been subscribed to the KOEHLER list that I started (& still maintain) for anyone with KÖHLER ancestors of any variant spelling. 3. The following was posted to the KELLEHER GenConnect Board by Peg Kelleher Lary at <laryfarm@mint.net> on Wed, 20 Oct 1999. I came across it today. I am subscribed to the mailing list for this spelling and there is basically no traffic there. I am wondering if this could be another, variant spelling of the KELLER/KELLAR Irish surname. If anyone knows, please post an answer (or speculation) to the list. If you connect with Peg, you'll probably have to post that directly to her since I do not find her address as being subscribed to either the KELLER or KELLAR list. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler cc: Peg Kelleher Lary Surname: Kelleher, Madden, Donahue, Cronin Looking for brothers of my G.G.Grandfather. His name was James. He had 3 known brothers, John, Daniel, and Michael. Their parents were John and Joann Madden Kelleher. They came from Curelahey Parish of Clondrohid, near Macroom, Co, Cork Ireland. The 4 brothers left Ireland around 1840-1845. Parents remained in Ireland. Brothers ended up in Bangor and Orono Maine. Michael changed spelling of name to Keliher, and went to Illinois around 1850. James stayed in Bangor area. We have found Michael's decendents, and have James' decendents, would love to find Daniel and John relatives. Anyone who believes that they have a Ireland to Maine to mid-west connection, please contact . Thank you.
