Hi John Weldon of Midland, TX. I am sending this to Kellam listings as it ended with idea better to address all as team effort. Yes, I guess you could say be are "kissin cuzins" as I am descended from Sarah Bell Kellum, sister to Smith Kellum. My Sarah (called Sally by all) was born 7 Sep 1784 in Chatham, NC, and died in Pulaski Co. Ark. on 28 Aug 1840. She married John Douglass on 22 Feb 1806 in Davidson Co. TN. Her father was Henry Kellam b ca 1760 in either MD or VA. not sure, yet. He died 10 May 1799, 3 days after May 7 of 1799, date of his will. Family says he died as result of bear mauling him. He left wife, Martha, & children: 1. William born in late 1780's in NC 2. Sally Kellum Doglass b- 1784 3. MaryAnn Kellum Russell b- 178? NC 4. Mary Kellum Newell 5. Nancy Smith Newell 6. Lovey Kellum 7. John Kellum 8. Smith Kellum b- 10 Feb 1798 in Davidson Co. TN all named in his will. Martha Calhoun Kellam died in 1807 leaving youngest Smith age 9 yrs. Isaac Kellum b- 12 Feb 1836 & d- Feb 1877 I have photocopies of 3 original handwritten letters, one from Emily Catherine sending above b & d's to a nephew Fields, in AR, I presume. and 2 from John Pyeatt Kellum written in 1883 & 1905...both long letters with lot of info. In one he says he remembers Aunt Sally Douglass (my anc) saying the first Kellam/Kellum came to Del, then moved to MD & VA ......and later to TN & AR. These were sent to me by Peggy Williams of Tn who is a desc of MaryAnn Kellum Russell, my Sally's sister. I also have the lineage of Pyeatt family back to ca 1650 in France.
