    2. Catching up on back mail, and ran across this I'd saved. If duplicate, sorry!! Sheila // Firehair George Kellam posting of 24 Mar 2000 Date: 9/9/00 11:54:55 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: lastof@horizon.hit.net To: Firehair2@aol.com I am not a member of your mailing list, but occasionally read some of the letters, came across the above. I furnish this info for whatever interest it might be. Based on census and other entries, George, son of Gilbert Sr, was born ca 1769, prob PA; d 3 Dec 1818, Breckinridge Co, KY, leaving a nun-cupative will witnessed by neighbors (possibly relatives) Littleton Martin and Elisha Johnston (see names of George's children). His son William, whom you do not name, was executor. George's wife was "Jinsey," (prob Jane with a nickname), born ca 1778. George and Jinsey had: William, b ca 1796, prob TN; Hiram, b ca 1798, TN; Melinda, b 2 Apr 1801, prob TN; James, b ca 1803, TN; Littleton Martin, b ca 1806, TN; Elisha Johnston, b ca 1809, KY; Son (unidentified), b 1811-1820, KY; Leodicia, b 1811-1820, KY, Mary Ann, b 1811-1820, KY; Elizabeth Jane, b `1811-1820. KY, (possibly posthumously and possibly by a different father) {see 1850 census info below}. Pertinent tax and census entries were: George Kellums (along with Gilbert Collum), Lee Co, VA, petition, 1792. George Killum (along with Gilbert Killums), Lee Co, VA, petition, 1794. George Kelms, 1810 fed census, Breckinridge Co, KY. George Kelms, Breckinridge Co, KY tax roll, 1811-12 George Killum, -do- 1813 George Kelliums, -do- 1814 George Kelms, -do- 1815 George Kellums, -do- 1816 George Killms, -do- 1817 Jensey Killiums was on 1821 tax roll, Breckinridge Co with 1 black over 16 and 2 horses. Similar listings were made in subsequent years. On 23 Jan 1823 Jency Kellums signed a Deed Gift in which she named her children, excepting William. Apparently trouble occurred over the settlement of George's estate in 1818, because Hiram was called in to make additional bond. On 22 Mar 1824, William Kallam deeded to Elisha F.Johnston and Hiram Kallam, for $1 twenty-five acres on Indian Creek inBreckinridge Co, all his tools, household furniture, cattle, etc., and his interest in his father's estate. He disappeared from the scene after that. When Hiram was counted in Daviess Co, KY, in the 1850 census, included in his household was Jane Kellam, 72, b VA. This is undoubtedly his mother, usually known as Jinsey, birth year computed @ ca 1778. Listed in the same census, but in the household of Powhatan Ellis, was Elizabeth Kellams, 27, b KY. PA is deduced as birthplace for George because two sons of his next older brother, Gilbert Jr., gave that as their own father's birthplace, and Gilbert Sr (Gilbert Collams) did not take up land in Rockbridge Co, VA, until 1773. It is an assumption that he didn't stop anywhere in between. Richard

    3. Hello Listers, The Elizabeth, possibly Kellam, I am searching for is the same one as Polly. Elizabeth would have been born c1750-60, possibly in the MD/DE area. She was married to William Goddard and this couple lived in the southwestern corner of PA in Greene county. Elizabeth ____ Goddard died c1835, as her children all cleared out of the area c1836. William Goddard stated in his will dated 1818, that land was to be given, monies given, etc., "a year and a day after their mother's death", so assume she must have died c1835. My theory that Elizabeth was a Kellam is based solely on the fact that her oldest son's name was Henry Kellam Goddard. Per the death certificate of Henry Kellam Goddard's son, Henry Kellam Goddard, Jr., who died 22 Feb 1907 in Tangier, IN, his father's birthplace was "on Atlantic Ocean." Many might think that this phrase would mean literally on the Atlantic ocean (on a boat). But, old timers here in the community where I live refer to someone born over on the eastern shore, or over near the Atlantic, as living "on the Atlantic Ocean" or "over on the Ocean." Henry Kellam Goddard married Dorcas Long, daughter of John Long, Jr., who came to western PA in the late 1770's from MD. Henry died in 1836 in Tyler county, Virginia, now West Virginia. 2. Do you have any more info on this Moses K. and his wife? ... parents, siblings children etc. Where did you find a record of their marriage? I am interested in a branch of the Austin Kilham descendants that were in Paupack, PA about this same time. I am hoping to find a tie between my GGGgrandfather Asa Kellum and a Phineas Kellam that left property in southwest PA to Asa. I suspect that this Phineas is a member of the Paupack group so details about your Moses may help me. As to your interest, if you can connect your Moses to the Paupack branch you will have a well documented line back to England in the mid to late 1500s. I will be glad to share what I have on this line if you are unaware of them. There is a lot of detail on the net. Hope to hear more details from you soon on Moses and his forebearers. Ron Kellems

    3. I've posted some of this before, but we've since corrected and fleshed it out somewhat. I'm looking for dates for the parents of my ggrandfather Lewis Kellum, born 1803 in Accomack Co. James Kellam m. Margaret Dunton known offspring of James and/or Margaret: Lewis Kellum Jackson ? Brendan ? We've found a record of a Margaret Dunton marrying a William Dorman in 1795, and then a Peggy Dorman marrying James Kellam in 1801, which gives a strong suspicion that Peggy and Margaret are the same person. Any leads would be appreciated. - Woody Kellum

    2. Was Asa Kellems married to Sarah Hinch? I have emailed a cousin for the information on Hinch Kellems, as my computer crashed a couple weeks ago and I haven't gotten everything back in yet. I will have her to email you with the information we have. The Hinch Kellems I am looking for married my gg grandmother Rebecca Aders in Perry County Indiana. According to pension records we have, Hinch Kellems and Rebecca received guardianship of her 2 children after her 1st husband died in the Civil War. On one of the papers in the pension file it gives Hinch's age as 59 and her 29. This was in 1867/68 in Perry Co Indiana. My delima is that I can not find her death date, nor where she might have been burried. By 1868 both she and Hinch had passed away. This is not a brick wall to me, it is an iron wall. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks June
