Meredith, Greetings from W. Texas, 90 and breezy today... My research has taken a back seat to other priorities, but can't help writing in this morning to see if maybe we are related... John Pyeatt Kellam, b. Sept. 1823 in Pulaski Co. AR., s/o J.G. Smith Kellam and Jane Pyeatt, is my 3rd grgrandfather...I have J.G. Smith Kellam's birthday as 10 Feb. 1789 in Davidson Co., TN., source being another cousin researcher...marriage date to Jane Pyeatt as 18 July 1822 in Pulaski Co., AR. Another Kellam cousin out of the woodwork??? John Weldon Midland, Tx.
Hi, Saw message about Henry & Smith Kellum. Henry Kellum was my 4th grtgrdfther and I know he was in Wake & Chatham Co's in Nc before moving to Davidson Co. , TN....where he died in 1799. Smith, earliest I have for him was he was married to Molly (Mary) Parker in Accormack Co. VA 18 Sep 1787. (I sent in a list of Kellams married in that co btw 1785-99) If Smith was ca 25 yrs old then b- ca 1762. I know he was in Chatham Co at time Henry was....Smith was acting in an estate sale regarding selling of a slave in 1795. As near as I may figure birthdate of Henry's oldest child, William he was born ca 1785 Which puts Henry's marriage3-4 yrs before Smith married in 1787. Henry & Martha named lastborn son Smith. which I believe he was naming him after a brother. Henry died in Dec of 1799, from results of a bear mauling him. He was ca 39-40 yrs old. with last born son, Smith, only 2 yrs old. The mother died in 1805 when Smith was ca 7 yrs old. He went to live with, possibly, his older brother William who was 18 when their mother died. William, died in 1811 and by then Smith was 13 yrs old and living with John & Sally (Kellum) Douglass and later moved with them to Pulaski Co. Ark. in 1819. It is known that later Smith Kellam/Kellum (the older one) came to Davidson Co. TN. Where he died I do not know unless someone "out there" has that info. lMeredith Gibson

They are connected in one way or another..Kellams, Tylers, Ross, Thomas Dexter, Lukins, Hurd, Calkins..etc..etc. How do I make out check? Sheila Stover? thanks..will mail today if I hear from you in time.. had knee scope done 2 weeks ago..so much pain that I am not on here much these lasts 2 weeks..hope it gets a heck of a lot better than this..or it was a waste! talk later love, Paula

Than you Ron, well said.
Rial Kellum married China seagraves was listed in Wake County NC records, but it was incorrect as Chainey Strickland Kellum was quoted in all census records and also land petitions after the marriage. Let's don't forget that some records are recorded incorrect.
So true Ron, but the future grand children chose the name Polly for their girls that were name after Granny Kellum. Happy Easter.
Well said Ron >
Meridith; I think that you are on the right track as I had suspected exactly same as you. This explains why my uncle Edward came on to Davidson County before William Riley, Ismah & DR Moses came. DR Moses was my 3rd great grandfather. Edward married Happy Tabor in Davidson County , TN in 1812 and William Riley married China Strickland Seagraves in Wake county in 1816. We have been trying to Connect a Henry & Willis Kellum in 1830 Alabama to Smith and his boys. I am still looking at Easer Kellum and Annie Smith as the Parents of Henry and Smith. Later JK
JK, Is that Polly Parker? I have her as Molly Parker, but I don't know where I got that from... Sorry yes I do, from grandmas bible, King James V., but the bible is wrong on more than Molly! *grin* Roy
