    2. Jerry Kime
    3. Mary Lou Cook, at her web site - http://collectornuts.com/keim.htm - lists the following about Peter (Johan) Keim 1. PETER (JOHAN)6 KEIM I (JOHANNES PETER5, JOHANNES "HANS"4, JOHANN3, GEORGE2, LUDWIG DE HARCOURT1)1 was born Abt. 1743 in Oley, Berks Co, PA, and died Abt. 1829 in Somerset Co, PA. He married MARY Abt. 1766 in Berks Co, PA. She was born Abt. 1745. Notes for PETER (JOHAN) KEIM I: There is some debate about this man and records are sketchy about his origins. It is uncertain whether he is descended from Ludwig Keim. He may be the Peter Keim who lived in Heidelberg Twp in 1787, Dauphine Co, PA, just across the border from Berks Co. Don Thackrey speculates that Peter lived close to the border of Berks Co, perhaps in mountain country out of reach of tax assessors. According to Mahlon W. Keim, Peter's great-grandson, Peter "bound-out" all his children after his first wife died when the children were still young. The oldest son, Nicholas, was trained by an Amish Mennonite, which explains the Keim connection to the Amish. By 1811, Peter was married to Mary ___ and living in Somerset Co, PA, where his son Nicholas was living. This may be the Revolutionary War Private in Capt. Joseph Davis Company, Berks Co, PA., part of the 1st Battalion under Lt. Col. John Gardner. Peter was mustered out in 1782 and returned to Berks Co. (Located by Eber Cockley: Pennsylvania Archives, series 3, vol. 6, p. 295; series 5, vol 5, p. 492). At least one descendant, the late Mrs. Arline Petry Cook of Cumberland, MD, was granted membership in the D.A.R. (File No. 525372). When he died, Peter gave his land to Nicholas. Many sources give his death date as April 1787 at about age 44. Peter had 8 children, and most of them moved to other states including Holmes Co, OH and Indiana.
