I have seen the several theories, and I'm not entirely sure which to believe. My brief write up on John Peter currently includes: === John Peter Keim may be the John Peter K(l)eim who immigrated on the ship Nancy, and registered in Philadelphia on Aug 31, 1750, or he may be descended from John (Johann) Keim, who first came to America in 1698. === What I learned from my grandfather was the story of the ship Nancy, which he got from the Keim family reunion speech by Josiah J Keim in Somerset Co PA in 1928. Since then, I have had the privilege of exchanging information with several Keim researchers, including Don Thackrey. Don in particular makes a good case for John Peter being descended from the 1698 John Keim, and that may in fact be the more likely true history. But the "definitive proof" that I keep hoping for, and that has been sought by Keim researchers since KAF in the 1890s, may not exist. I also don't know where John Peter ended up. I vaguely remember one story that he went to North Carolina and died there, but that seems unlikely, and I've never seen any confirmation. I've also seen the more likely story that he ended up in Somerset Co PA (near son Nicholas?), and possibly died there c1828, but again, no confirmation, that I know of. For the purposes of describing my line for this forum, what I do know about John Peter is that he lived in Berks Co PA, where he had eight known children between the years 1768 and 1781. Sons Nicholas, George, and Samuel (my gggg-gf) removed to Somerset Co PA about 1790, and George later continued on to Holmes Co OH. Son Jacob went to Carrol Co MD, and youngest son Peter made stops in several counties in southwest PA, before ending up in Elkhart Co IN. Daughter Mary Keim Yoder died in Centre Co PA. I don't have any other info on son John, or daughter Elizabeth Keim Fetters. I hope this helps. Jim

    3. Another statement I've seen is: "Peter Keim of Reading bound out all his children after his wife died" TRUE???? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

    3. WHERE does the deathdate ca 1828 come from? One manuscript passed around lists his DOD as April 1787 with source given as American Ancestry, (1893), Vol. 9, p. 234. --- Jim Keim <[email protected]> wrote: > > I also don't know where John Peter ended up.
