I have gained so much new information from Lori Chaffin's postings to the list lately. I would like to know what the "GSU Film Numbers" are, or mean, what the "Digital GS Number" is, or means, and what the "Image Number" is, or means. I think the "Certificate Number" is just what it indicates but what is the "fn" that comes before the number? This will help me to record the information correctly. I have never done a lot of research for my KIMES lines but with this "boost", I will do more. Where can I find OH marriage record information? I am interested in Mahoning, Columbiana, and Stark Co's. in OH. Thanks so much, Lori for your work. Judy Bates Scottsdale, AZ.
Hi Judy, I really don't have the answers to your questions but I do have some thoughts on them. The LDS have had the certificates transcribed and I know the originals are on films. The Certificate Number is just as you would think, I have compared info from the site to certificates that I already had. I would think the GSU Film Number and Digital GS Number some how refer to the film the information was on. I would also think the Image Number refers to where on the film the information was. I also think the Digital GS Number has something to do with the digital image that they have on the site. The 'fn' is the number of the certificate, but I have no clue why they use (or add) the 'fn'. On my g Grandmothers certificate the certificate number is 852 on the transcription the reference number it fn852. On the transcription they call it a 'Reference Number'. I am thinking this information is all for if you want to rent the film and look at the original image. But I could be wrong about all of this.
