Thanks, Nola, your observation on the time line difference between arrival and taking to Oath was a concern of some of the officials of the time too. Reading somewhere, (maybe Berks of Old or History of Berks Co) some of the immigrants (now called undocumented immigrants) took the Oath later because they went inland after landing before being "processed" and the local officials then were used to give the Oaths after identifying those persons.
