I would tend to believe the Kimes in Meigs Co.(1800+) are as follows. Using census, wills and ect. I am acceptably sure of: Abraham--born 1782 in VA. Abraham (JR.)-- born 1805 in VA. with Mary O'Hare (interesting side note: in the 1850 census he spelled his name Keim) With second wife Nancy, John--born 1814 in Ohio. Jacob--born 1817 in Ohio. Mary Ann-- born 1818 in Ohio (died young). "Old" Jacob in the 1820 Meig Co. census is more speculative, however I agree with Cindy's listing and would add the following. In the 1820 census there are nine males in his household. I think it is safe to accept that some of these males are the Kimes' that appear in later census. William in the 1820 census is Head of Household and between 15 and 20 years old, born in VA. Samuel in the 1860 census was 55 or born about 1805 in VA. Thomas in the 1850 census was 44 or born about 1806 in VA. John in the 1850 census was 41 or born about 1809 in Ohio. Elias in the 1850 census was 36 or born in about 1814 in Ohio. Henry in 1826 signed the document of a Religious Society, age unknown. I would think one had to be 21 to vote but a religious document may just require a "mature" adult. Earlier I had said Elias and Henry may have been William's sons but on further reflections they would be much to old to be William's sons. Until more information becomes available I can except these as "Old" Jacob's sons. If that is so, birth dates indicate Jacob moved to Meigs Co. between 1806 and 1809. This time line fits other information. Kimes' appearing in later census or elsewhere are more difficult because they could be his sons or grandsons. This includes the elusive George Washington Kimes. He could be Jacobs' (49 years old) son, but more likely a son of William's as he was a head of Household in 1820 and a son born in 1821 would seem to fit the time line. (Just a guess) The last mention I found of Jacob was in 1833. Where did Jacob's death date of 1850 come from? Don
