    3. Here's a mystery! While looking for a specific William Kimes, I came across a website listing publications by a John Muir. Somehow a William F. Kimes is connected. Take a look at http://www.infonex.com/~pba/catalogs/curcat96-4.html then search for KIMES. The only clues found as to Kimes's identity were: He must have come from WI - it mentions a "Wisconsin immigrant farm boy" It seems he lived in California when he was older. # 105 - hints at KIMES's age..... at boy during 1866-1879 #128 - Maymie B. must have been Kimes's wife. Does anyone have ANY idea who this William Kimes is?

He married Mayme Maxine Burris the 22nd of May, 1930 at the Burris Ranch near Hanford, Kings County, California. Her legal name is Mayme but she goes by Maymie. Bill had a lengthy career in education. He pioneered the Reef-Sunset Union Elementary School District in the oil boom-town of Avenal, Kings County, California. He started as the teaching principal with Maymie and two others completing the teaching staff. His career culminated in a 20 year tenure as Assistant Superintendent at Orange Coast Community College where he transformed an abandoned army air base into a full college campus. Bill and Mayme spent the greater part of their first ten years at their Rocking K ranch above Mariposa, California compiling, "John Muir, A Reading Bibliography." This has become the foremost reference tool for researchers and collectors of John Muir and is found in major libraries across the United States. William died the 18th of February, 1998 in Santa Rosa, California after battling prostate cancer and having several strokes. They had three children.
