First let me state that I DON'T think these KIME(S)s are connect to my husband's branch; I just LOVE genealogical puzzles and analyzing info! Now....... We've seen a couple posts in reference to some KIMEs that were in La Salle Co, IL in the late 1800's. First, posted in Jan. 2001: > > 1870 LaSalle Co, IL Census (abstract) > 86-83 > Carter, Chas. 33 M NY farmer > Lizzie 21 F KY keeping house > Lilly 9/12 F IL [b. Sept] > Nellie 6 F IL at home > Hanson, Wm. 21 M GY farm hand > Kime, Nancy 25 F KY [living with sister] > Kime, Edith 5 F IL at home > Kime, Geo. A. 3 M IL at home > >From this census, we knew about Nancy Kime, PROBABLE widow, and her children, Edith and George A. Kime. Next, going through archives looking for an Edith Kime, I ran across this will posted back in Sept. 2000: > > Source: ILLASALL-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: REES IN LASALLE COUNTY, IL > > Will book E page 316 Oct. 04, 1875 > > Albert G. Rees Sr. > Mentions sons William and Albert G. Rees > wife Caroline > grandchildren Jeremiah Rees and William Albert Rees Mary Carter > Martha Ward Jerome Tole, Elizabeth A. Carter > Arthur Kime and Elizabeth Kime > gg grandchildren Arthur and Edith Kime > Here was an Edith Kime in LaSalle Co, IL only 5 years after that census posting! I tried building a family from the info that had been given: ___ ? KIME (d. before 1875 - date of will) | CHILDREN: | Edith Kime _________| Geo. A. Kime | | |___ Nancy ? Was this the same Edith? Looking at the other names given in the will, I noted the surname CARTER. That was the same name as the family on the census. Lizzie Carter could have been the Elizabeth A. Carter listed in the will. Was this the SAME Edith! Assuming she was and continuing with this line of reasoning, the names given in the will were an uncle named Arthur and an aunt named Elizabeth Kime, so the pedigree would be as follows: CHILDREN OF ? KIME: Arthur Kime Elizabeth Kime ___ ? KIME (d. before 1875 - date of will) | GRANDCHILDREN: | Edith Kime _________| Arthur Kime | | |___ Nancy ? (wife of deceased) One outstanding question remained; where was Edith's brother Arthur? The census only listed the two children: Edith and Geo. A. I got to wondering and figured Geo. A. must have been George Arthur KIME. This made sense since he had an uncle Arthur! Next question was: Where did the name George come from? maybe his father????? (That would fit perfectly!) Checking the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763-1900, which is online, I found a George KIME that married a Nancy, AND, it was shortly before Edith's birthdate (which we can approximate from the 1870 census). Edith was born 1864 or 1865 (if the census data was accurate!). AND, a George Kime and Nancy Doll were married in LaSalle Co, IL on 09 June 1862! The RIGHT location; the RIGHT timeframe; the RIGHT names! Everything seems to fit! (except I can't figure how Nancy ties in with the REES family!) Does anyone see a flaw in my brainstorming? If all the above is fact, a descendant outline of this family would be: Descendants of // Kime 1 // Kime + unknown 2 George Kime b: Bef. 1849 d: Bet. 1866 - 1870 .... +Nancy Doll b: 1845 KY m: 09 June 1862 LaSalle Co, IL ... 3 Edith Belle Kime b: 1865 IL d: March 1919 Streator, La Salle Co, IL ....... +James Peter Redman m: 06 February 1884 Farm Ridge, La Salle Co, IL ... 3 Geo. Arthur Kime b: 1867 IL ....... +probably Annie Brooker 2 Arthur Kime b: Bef. 1875 2 Elizabeth Kime b: Bef. 1875 And, BTW, add'l info on Edith Kime was from an obituary posted to the La Salle Co, IL mailing list on 2 Jan 2001. So, WHO connects to these KIMEs in La Salle Co, IL????? ANYONE????? Cindy
