This line still needs more > sources to confirm I think, but it looks very > promising. > I was unaware ANY of the other KEIMs descendants moved to Seneca Co, NY. Our line, Christian, son of Conrad Keim (your Maria's brother), moved to Seneca Co, NY ca 1812. ******************************************* Actually, having Christian Keim moving to Seneca County where his cousins settled makes sense and could bolster the KEIM-YODER-FRIDLEY connection. Christian may have convinced his cousin, David Yoder to move out to Seneca County. They would have moved out there after 1818. From: http://www.yodernewsletter.org/nonamish/oleyyost.html David Yoder (b. abt 1795), son of Daniel Yoder (b.Abt.1757-58, d. May 1, 1822) and Esther Hoch, grandson of Jacob Yoder (b.bet 1729-1735, d.abt 1804) and Maria Keim (b. November 1733), m. Feb.15, 1818 by Rev. Knoske to Catherine Weidner of Pike Twp. (Dec.19, 1798- 6/6/1875/6) moved to Seneca Co., NY d. 10/17/1854 Varick, NY (wife also d. Varick) (Catherine was a res. in 1870 with daughter Catherine Smith (References: helen V. Yoder research; 1850 Census-Seneca Co., NY; Christ (Mertz) Luth. Church; Waterloo Town & Co. Historian). You find all the Yoder children in Varick, NY. This where the Fridley's were from and how David's daughter Catherine ended marrying David Fridley in 7/29/1849, only to be widowed in 10/12/1864 during the Civil War. Catherine and David's family is listed in the 1860 Seneca County Census and Catherine is listed as a 31 year old, which which matches Catherine's birthdate being 1829. As stated above, by 1870 Catherine Weidner Yoder was living with her daughter Catherine Smith (although Weidner doesn't show living with the Fridley family in 1860), so Catherine Yoder Fridley might have married a Smith after being widowed. Catherine's sister Rachel had married a William Smith, so it would make sense that she may have hooked up with her brother-in-law's family having 5 children and a mother to take care of. Many of David Yoder and Catherine Weidner's sons fought in the NY 148th Regiment in the Civil War the same as David Fridley. Daniel Franklin Yoder (b.July 4,1842) was in the 148th with Fridley and was also buried at Ft. Monroe. Daniel Franklin's brother, David Yoder (b. 1829-Catherine's Twin?) lost a finger in the war. Brothers Henry (b.1845), William (b.1825), and Oliver (b.1843) are not listed when David Yoder, Sr. dies on October 17, 1854. Catherine Yoder (b.Abt. 1829) and David Fridley (b. Abt 1822) had five children: Alonzo, Elizabeth, Mariette, George, and Della. Their son Alonzo Fridley (b. 1851), according to family lore, grew up sort of an orphan being 13 when his father died in Ft. Monroe, VA during the war. Alonzo ended up moving to Santa Cruz, California in 1871 to become a Pioneer of the area's Poultry industry. Cheers, Denise __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
