    3. Ran across some KIMEs brousing through the online obits at the Fulton County [IN] Library's website and have been working on this family all week. Now I need some help from others! Here's what I've found so far: Descendants of David Kime 1 David Kime b. 1836 IN d: 1862 .. +Mary Ann Geiger b. 1838 IN m. 1860 d: 13 January 1914 north of Rochester, IN ... 2 Daniel Edward Kime b: 08 September 1861 Larwell, Noble Co, IN d: 17 November 1936 Rochester, Fulton Co, IN ....... +Susan Mitchell m: 14 December 1892 ... 2 Rosa Kime ....... +// McGuire m: Bef. 1914 ... *2nd Husband of Rosa Kime: ....... +// Grubb m: Bef. 1936 Rosa and Edward Kime's father died in 1862. Edward was born in 1861, consequently, there should have been guardians appointed with the children being so young. Checking the Noble Co website, there was one such guardian record listed, AND, the info states the father was David Kime: "Kime Rose, heir of David Kime, guardian Daniel Zeigler. Filed 17 Oct 1876." http://www.usgennet.org/usa/in/county/noble/Guardian/nobguard-kq.html No guardian was appointed for Daniel. In 1876, he would have been 15 and in some states, children over 14 were allowed to choose their guardian. This might explain why none was "appointed" for him. But the question, "WHY was no guardian appointed until 1876?" bothers me. I checked the 1870 IN census at my local library; found a listing for Daniel Edward Kime, as follows: Daniel E. Kime, age 9, born IN, living in Richland Twp, Whitley Co, IN. There were NO other KIMEs listed for that particular page of the census and I couldn't remember the name of his step-father, John Gilliland, to check where he was living. Also rec'd info from a lookup request on a David Kime listed on the 1860 IN census. That info turned out to be the David in question. He and Mary A. KIME were living in Richland Twp, Whitley Co, IN. Possibly the same residence where Daniel was living in 1870. I wonder if Mary had remarried by 1870 and Daniel was perhaps living with a step-father????? The obit on Mary told she married 2nd a John Gilliland. They divorced and she later married a Fred Hicks. The latter marriage ended in a divorce also. As for David Kime, info in one of the obits said he died in 1862 during the War. It doesn't specifically say he SERVED in the Civil War, but there were some David KIME(S)es, etc. that served in Indiana. I did a search on Google for: "David Kime" Whitley One of the two hits was in reference to the Civil War: Civil War Soldiers ... is the only complete roster of Whitley county soldiers in existence. The Colonel ... James L. Johnson John H. Kendall David Kime Isaac Kime, Hiram Lantz Jacob S ... www.kneller.com/WhitleyIN/civil001.html - 8k - Cached - Similar pages I couldn't access the above site! Perhaps someone else can link to this site and info me of what it shows! But, with the above names of David Kime & ISAAC KIME this provides yet another clue to David's possible ancestry! Could David Kime be connected to Valentine (1711-1808) KIME's line? Hoping someone can help? Cindy Kimes ckimes@mvillage.com P.S. Not related; just LOVE genealogical puzzles!

Reuben Gilliland was born 09 October 1868 near Larwell, IN (Noble Co, IN), so Mary Ann had married John Gilliland by 1868. The obit on Reuben also lists the name of Rosa KIME's husband as Milton Grubbs. Anyone connect yet? Cindy
