    3. While the USGS does not list Kimesville per se, it does show a Kimesville Lake as being on its Kimesville 7.5' x 7.5' map. Kimesville Lake is Lat. 355645N and Long. 0793248W. On the GuilfordCo Historical Documentation map, Philip Kime's land is shown along a small stream that flows into Little Stinking Quarter Creek. The center of his land is abt 7,000' W and 13,000' N of the SE corner of GuilfordCo. Also, I have the following note: "Phillip bought 50 A. on Stinking Quarter, a creek that runs through the SE corner of Guilford Co, more or less parallel to NC 62, and then on into Alamance where it eventually runs into the Haw River, a little south of Graham." I have always assumed that is where his property was located but I have never seen any documentation of this. The Land Grant for 50 acres, which he obtained from the state of North Carolina in 1789, is documented in Book 5 page 136 and 137 of the Salisbury District Superior Court Minutes. The minutes of this court action describe the property in terms of distance and direction from various relative landmarks such as trees, stones etc and states that it is on the waters of Little Stinking Quarter. ____
