Just to see if such was the case with Charles Kime and his mother, I input the known data in the search form on the CA Death Records site, and found a match: LILLIE KIME, whose father's last name was BARTLEY; mother's last name, CASE. She was born 08/23/1868 in IOWA; died 02/02/1940 in Los Angeles Co, CA. Appears this would be Charles's mother! Now, what KIME married a Lillie Bartley, maybe in Iowa or Nebraska?
