Does anyone on the List know of any information that connects Philip Kime to Kimeville? I have always assumed that is where his property was located but I have never seen any documentation of this. The Land Grant for 50 acres, which he obtained from the state of North Carolina in 1789, is documented in Book 5 page 136 and 137 of the Salisbury District Superior Court Minutes. The minutes of this court action describe the property in terms of distance and direction from various relative landmarks such as trees, stones etc and states that it is on the waters of Little Stinking Quarter.

You also could try contacting someone in that area.... normally long-time residents of these locales know where or how the places got their name! And, it seems one of our subscribers mentioned they lived somewhere around there.
