On April 19, 1858, Michael DEMSKE bought from John & Louisa Vanderbosh 1/4 of lot #1 in Clark's Addition to Kendallville on the corner of Sheridan and Mitchell Streets. In August 1861, he sold this lot to John KIME. Anyone know what John Kime this was?
we did report it to the police last weekend. They are doubling up their watch. We went back to the cemetery and discovered 2 of the plaques had been replaced. However, the police said they would notify the family we suspected; 3 hours later I went back and two of the plaques had been replaced with new ones. I think I was right. at least they were replaced. Maybe it won't happen again. Lori Chaffin <lorilchaffin@gmail.com> wrote: Brenda Lee, This is so sad to hear. I do hope you and your cousin contacted the police in the area and reported it. I know it won't help to replace what was destroyed but they might be able to track down who did it, and they might also be able to beef up patrols so maybe it doesn't happen to any other graves there. Another thought is to start a fund to replace the markers. This is happening for some of my husbands ancestors. The man that started the fund posted it to message boards and contacted people that he found searching the same family line. I will try that. We have one set of relatives that are pretty posessive and we suspect anything we put up to replace them will be taken. even flowers we put up are taken and put on their families graves from our graves. I hope I can find some outside wood to make crosses out of to replace them. they won't let us put anything else up. Lori Chaffin <lorilchaffin@gmail.com> wrote: Brenda Lee, This is so sad to hear. I have no idea who this George W. Kimes's father was... he's really hard to I.D. Most every record listed his age differently. I'm not certain, but think these are records for this same John Kimes: On the 1850 census, he's listed at age 37. (b. ca 1813) 1860 census, he's listed at age 50. (b. ca 1810) 1870 census, age 65. (b. ca 1805) 1880 census, age 80. (b. ca 1800) WPA record - died 1897,at age 96. (b. ca 1801) Maybe someone on this list has an idea??? How does one know what is the correct spelling. We look at documents listing Emma... sometimes it's Emma, sometimes Emaline, sometimes Emeline. Documents are usually what someone else has recorded. I'm thinking you'd need to see something in Emma's own handwriting to answer that question. kitkimes41@comcast.net wrote: P.S. I have seen her name spelled Emaline, so I'm not sure which is correct.
