Someone shared the following will for Henry Kimes/Heinrich Keim. My question concerns the age of son Abraham. Will dated 17 Dec. 1799 and it says minor son. So he was born after Dec 1778???? Bath Co, Virginia Will Book 1, p. 229 Will of Henry Kime of Bath Co. Home plantation to wife, Catherine, and then to son Valentine. 54 acres tract where Stephen Rierson formerly lived to minor son, Abraham. 5 shillings each to children, Conrad Kime, Christina Martingood, Catherine Deale, Lisey Rierson, Jacob Kime, and Molly Kime. Son Valentine to care for his mother when old and infirm, they being the executors. Witnesses Charles Cameron, Thomas L. Lewis, Anthony Mustoe, Samuel Gay. Ran across some KIMESes from Crawford Co, IN, buried in Austin, TX: http://www.austintxgensoc.org/cemeteries/AMP.html Armenta R. Tower was the wife of Daniel Wesley Kimes. Nicholas W. Kimes and Albert Kimes were two of their sons. Mabel B. (Bippus) Kimes was Nick's wife. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. There are also two KIMES buried in the Nashville National Cemetery, Madison, TN. see http://www.bonps.org/natlcem/natlcem_k.htm The home page for this site states the burial listings on the site are for Civil War-era soldiers. ________________ Does anyone recognize Privates Edward E. and/or Richard P. That is?one theory, but Heinrich, Conrad & Johannes/John are pretty common names for Germanic descent, so?that's not?a strong argument pro. Following naming patterns of that time frame, it seems unusual that the name Johannes/John seemed to have died out in my lineage. In all of the other Founder lines, John is carried on multiple times thru multiple generations. Likewise the name Heinrich/ Henry -?it just isn't there in my succeeding generations. The names Abraham & Jacob are the dominant male 1st names in my lines. The same concept applies to the female names in my lineage. There is no abundance of Mary/Maria or Elizabeth. On the other hand, the explanation for the variance in the naming pattern could be explained by the fact that early on my Kimes lineage moved physically away from?the rest of the family, so they may have been exposed to a bigger variety of names to choose from & they're family ties may not have been as strong as the lines that stayed in close contact. If only we could go back & read they're minds. Actually, the connection between Heinrich?who fathered?Abraham has yet to be documented, so my "proven" break is between those two. If that connection is ever documented, then my next step would be to document?which Heinrich. -----Original Message----- From: Cindy Kimes <cindykimes@yahoo.com> To: keim@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 17 Apr 2008 2:38 pm Subject: Re: [KEIM] Heinrich (Henry) Keim, b. 1731 Your Heinrich (Henry) Keim WAS of the "right" age to be Johannes's son, but is another reason many researchers from your line believe he was a son of "the founder" because he named a son Conrad? Etheland Mignon PETERSON Richard Emmett KIMES, b. 1927 Fresno, Fresno County, CA (my father) Please note that I do not list Heinrich's second wife as Catharina Reber, but only as Catharina. I have no proof that she was a Reber and it seems unlikely that he would have returned to Berks Co., PA from Frederick Co., Maryland to marry Catharina Reber. His will does list his wife's name as Catharina and so do their children's baptismal records. I also do not list Heinrich as the son of founder, Johannes Keim, since I have seen no proof of that either. If anyone has proof that this Heinrich Keim married Catharina Reber or is the son of Johannes Keim please share it with me and others on the list who doubt the veracity of these two items. Thanks, Susan -- Susan Kimes Burgess Fremont, CA suekbee@comcast.net
