For anyone researching KEIM/KIME in Adams Co, PA; their GenWeb site has a listing of marriage notices posted in Adams County, PA newspapers from 1802 through 1834. Take a look at http://www.rootsweb.com/~paadams/adams.htm

Thanks, My s-mail address is Gene Kimes Rt 1, Box 1215 Piedmont, Mo 63957 Thanks again Gene Kimes
Sorry about that. It is Chester, Meigs Co., Ohio. Sandy
Gene, Do I have your snail mail address? I will send it that way. Sandy
Hello everyone. Just a little msg. to remind you all that don't just go by obits alone. Remember the obits were usually written by a family member or a spouse. And if they didn't know much about the person, information could be wrong. EXAMPLE: I'm researching a James Edward Kime, and came across his children's obit. In his children's obit, they each called their dad and mom by different names. This always confused me for the longest time, until it dawned on me that the obits were written by other family members and spouses. Since the spouses called their father-in-law different names, if was reported in each of the children's obit that they called their dad by different names. I hope you all understand this, and keep it in mind, when discovering the obits. Thanks Murna dhawkslady@alltel.net

I didn't think too much about it but my grandfather, Everett Clyde Kimes, was from the northern part (near Parkersburg) so that would be consistent. Kit Kimes Oswego, IL

I looked to see where Chester, WV was and its WAY north of Meigs! I know there was no WV in 1821, but George's family must have given that info because by 1897, WV was a state! Anyway, that location presents a whole different set of KIME(S) as possibilities for your George's ancestry.
Hi Sandy Please send me all Info on your Hiram, All I have is Hiram Kemper Kimes, born Jan 21, 1849 Southside, Mason Co, WV died Jan 28, 1915 Shelby, Richland Co, OH, I also list him as son of George and Emily. I keep a record of all Kimes, Keim and Kime that I can find, the above info may not be correct but I keep trying until it all come together. Thanks Gene Kimes
Kit, How do you come down from George W. My line comes through Hiram. I would like to know if there are other Kimes families connected to George W. that could maybe help. You might be thinking of Michael Anthony's line but he later said that he could not connect George to Abraham. Sandy Lomax sllomax2@aol.com
Cindy, George Washington Kimes was born in 1821. His obit said that he was born in Chester, W.Va. He married Emily Williamson in 1839 in Meigs County. Her family was living at Pond Creek, W.Va. just across the river. Pond Creek is between Bellville and Ravenswood. They owned a farm near Bellville and raised their family there. In their old age they moved to live with their daughter in Illinios. George W. died there July 24, 1897. I have his death certificate and obit. His parents are not listed on his death cert. I tended to think that his father was William because there are Williams all through the family, but when I found William's will in Meigs County George W. is not among this children. William could be an uncle but I still don't know who George W. belongs to. My great grandfather was Hiram, son of George W. and Emily. My grandfather was Arthur Kimes and my mother Margaret Kimes. Thanks for any help you can give me. Sandy Lomax sllomax2@aol.com
Don, Thanks for your interest. I have been to Ripley many times as well as Parkersberg. It just seems that he dropped out of the sky into Meigs County. Sandy
Don, My focus is on Elias Kimes b. abt. 1814. Beside the Marriage document, find anything on him? Was there any kind of obituary or death index that covered the 1800's, or at least part of the 1800's? Thanks, Bill Bojanowski bojanowskib@charter.net

There were Sassamanhause in Berks co. in the Oley area - may want to try looking for that name, too. I have Sassamanhause in my cousin's line and Sassamanhause was one name then trimmed down to Sassaman (some still use the whole name) Seems me to some came over with with a preacher - very early on. Try the German Reform churchs of the Berks. co. Oley area and maybe Faulkner Swamp church in New Hanover - early Phila. co. then Montgomery co. then try Lutheran churchs. Most Lutheran and German Reformed in this area are built side by side.
